Paul Giamatti is in negotiations to play the late sci-fi writer Philip K. Dick in a bio-pic. Chances are good that the actor will land the role, since Giamatti is also producing the bio-pic, which, according to Sci-Fi Wire, will mix “the author’s life with his fiction and incorporate elements of his last unfinished novel, The Owl in Daylight.”
George A. Romero has signed on to write and direct SOLITARY ISLE, a thriller set on a deserted island. The movie is based on a short story by Koji Suzuki, whose credits include The Ring and Dark Water.

To celebrate STAR TREK‘s 40th anniversary, TV Land will air four episodes of the sci-fi classic on September 8. Star Trek will then join TV Land’s regular lineup in November. The series debuted September 8, 1966.
Hottie Melissa George (The Amityville Horror) has joined Josh Hartnett in the cast for 30 DAYS OF NIGHT, based on Steven Niles‘ graphic novel about vampires in Alaska.
Remember the movie that won the third season of Project Greenlight? FEAST, directed by John Gulager, will be available on DVD in October and be shown in a series of midnight screenings the weekend of September 22.
