Tom Cruise‘s crazy antics have finally caught up with the perpetually smirking actor. Paramount Pictures has cut ties with Cruise’s production company because “his recent conduct has not been acceptable to Paramount,” says the chairman of the studio’s parent company.
After a parent in Britain complained about smoking in a TOM AND JERRY cartoon, the Boomerang channel cut scenes from two episodes of the ’50s cartoon. “We have now pledged to view Boomerang’s entire library of favorite cartoons and remove all other references that could be seen as glamorizing smoking in all our shows,” said an exec for Boomerang’s parent, Turner Broadcasting UK. The cuts will only affect Boomerang UK.
STARGATE SG-1 has been cancelled. The longest running sci-fi series in U-S history will end after its 10th season.
A DOCTOR WHO spinoff starring Billie Piper, who played Rose Tyler in the show’s first two seasons, has been scrapped. The show was to be called Rose Tyler: Earth Defence.
South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone are working on a Godzilla spoof called GIANT MONSTERS ATTACK JAPAN. Production is expected to begin next year.
