Disney has hired Tiffany Paulsen to pen the script for Further Adventures in Babysitting, according to Variety.
Paulsen most recently wrote the upcoming Nancy Drew movie, starring Emma Roberts.
Further Adventures is a remake of Disney/Touchstone’s 1987 comedy Adventures in Babysitting, which starred Elisabeth Shue and was directed by Chris Columbus. Raven Symone and Miley Cyrus will star in the remake, with returning producer Lynda Obst.
In the original comedy, Shue starred as a high school senior whose dull night of babysitting turns into a series of wild adventures when she takes the kids into the city to help a friend who’s run away.
One of my favorite parts of the original (which, yes, I did go see at the theater!) was that the little girl Sara was obsessed with the The Mighty Thor comic book character and even wore a plastic replica of his winged helmet! In one scene, she’s convinced that a garage owner (played by an extremely buff Vincent D’Onofrio) is really the Norse god in disguise.
No word yet as to how close the remake will be to the original, but I’m sure it’s safe to say that Thor won’t even get a mention this time around.
