Jet Li and Jackie Chan in The Forbidden Kingdom
In their first big-screen appearance together, Jackie Chan and Jet Li will star in The Forbidden Kingdom, according to Variety. Based on the Chinese legend of the monkey king, the story revolves around an American teenager who discovers the king’s legendary stick weapon in a pawn shop. The teen is transported back in time to ancient China, where he joins a crew of warriors fighting to free the imprisoned king. Li is set to play two roles, that of the monkey king and the silent monk. Chan will pay the monk T’sa-Ho.
BSG cylon Rennie joins Oz flick
Callum Keith Rennie — best known for his role as the cylon obsessed with Starbuck on Battlestar Galactica — has joined the cast of the six-hour miniseries Tin Man, the futuristic retelling of The Wizard of Oz. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Rennie will play Zero, the lead henchman for the wicked sorceress Azkadellia (Kathleen Robertson), who lives in the Outer Zone, a wondrous world oppressed by dark magic. Renniewill also appear in the drama Normal along with Carrie-Anne Moss.
Smallville alum to lead Flash Gordon series
Eric Johnson — who played Lana Lang’s high school boyfriend Whitney Fordman on Smallville — will star in the title role in Sci Fi Channel‘s upcoming series Flash Gordon, scheduled to premiere this August.

Cinema Blend reports that Tom Hanks “has been officially locked up to reprise his role as Dr. Robert Langdon” in The Da Vinci Code follow-up Angels & Demons and that their sources says the star will get the “biggest salary ever paid to an actor in the history of Hollywood.”
