Matthew Fox will play Racer X in Speed Racer movie.
Matthew Fox and Kick Gurry are in final negotiations to appear in Larry and Andy Wachowski‘s big-screen Speed Racer adaptation, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Fox (Lost) will play Speed’s mysterious rival Racer X, with Aussie actor Gurry as Speed’s hippie mechanic Sparky in this update of the 1960s Japanese animated series. Fox will shoot his scenes during Lost‘s summer hiatus.
Speed Racer centers on the young race car driver Speed and his quest for glory in his thundering, gadget-laden vehicle Mach 5. Emile Hirsch, Christina Ricci, Susan Sarandon, and John Goodman also star in the film, which begins shooting in Berlin this June. Joel Silver is producing the film, which is scheduled to hit theaters May 9, 2008.
