I say the more the merrier. With any genre, you're going to have well-made films and then you're going to have your dreck. But with the CGI technology nowadays, even if the plot isn't superb, the special effects are worth watching the movie at least once. The Hulk, for instance, in my opinion was one for the dreck category, but it still looked a lot better than the old Superman movies from the '80s (no disrespect intended toward Christopher Reeves). The Spiderman movies were very well done, and if I have to sit through a few stinkers so that Sam Raimi can be allowed to make quality superhero movies, then that's a price I'm willing to pay. The hardest thing for me to deal with in general with the superhero movies is that they tend to be rated PG13 so that Walmart will carry the merchandise. I also understand that this is done to cater to the largest possible audience and while I don't want to limit the movie viewing opportunities of the young teen audience, I always wish they would make additional R versions of the movies for the older patrons like myself who would like to get a movie that shows Wolverine REALLY going berserk as he does in the comics. But maybe that's just me.....
