The world as we know it is quickly coming to an end as the undead are rising from the graves, infecting the living, and spreading the zombie apocalypse worldwide. Caught in the middle of all of this is Jamie, a tough ass-kicking action junkie, Brittney, a flirtatious and clueless blonde who has survived purely on luck, and Paige, your average level-headed co-ed whose got just enough smarts to become a leader. Together, these three college cuties become a buxom trio out to save themselves and put a few walking corpses back in the cemetery, if only they can tolerate each other’s clashing personalities long enough to survive.

Sometimes, you just want a comic book filled with bursting cleavage, tight tiny outfits, sassy attitude, and some great one-liners. And zombies. Can’t forget the zombies. Fortunately for those that just want to revel in a comic that just goes all the way in sexually-drenched horror-comedy comes Chaos Campus from the perpetually seventeen Bart A. Thompson. Coming from a half-hearted joke idea of how corporations that blend two franchises or genres together to make bigger bucks would eventually bring together the cheerleader and zombie genre, Thompson was encouraged to flesh out (no pun intended) the idea. Thompson took one look at the ongoing and arguably current king of the zombie comics The Walking Dead, and did a complete 180 from where Robert Kirkman was going to see where he wanted to take his fledgling characters.

This preview edition features two black and white short stories following the overly-endowed trio as they try to survive on campus, working as a buildup in style and attitude to what will eventually be seen in the upcoming full-color mini-series. This issue also includes six full-page pin-ups (two of each main character) from artists Martheus Wade and Eddie Wilson, which are ripe for taping above one’s bed or in a locker door.

The first story, “Video Ho” comes from Bart A. Thompson, which throw the girls straight into the action. It’s got no back story of where the zombies came from, no unnecessary character development, and not one serious panel found on any page. What it does have is zombie guts being splattered everywhere by three co-eds with boobs that would make Barbie envious and outfits that would even make the Bratz blush with embarrassment. Thompson drops his three heroines right into the action as they try to figure out what is happening and find something to eat, and shows off each characters’ personality traits just enough that their roles for the series have been firmly cemented.

The second story, “Gothic Makeover” is co-written by Bart A. Thompson and Michelle Thompson. This time out, the girls have found themselves in one of the dormitories and are in desperate need of weapons. They decide the best place to check is the goth girl’s room, and instead of finding weapons, they find the room’s inhabitant, who has truly succumbed to the undead lifestyle. Now, normally a fiend of this nature would get a quick blow to the head, but our heroines instead take the time to handcuff the ghoul to the bed, and give her a beauty makeover. They’re not taking an impending worldwide zombie plague seriously, and neither should we!

Chaos Campus is a rotten-tongue-in-cheek shirt-bursting good time filled with zany pop culture references and riffs (including a take on The Blair Witch Project which will leave a few mouths drooling) that refuses to stop having fun even as Hell itself spits out the dead. If you ever wondered what Buffy would look like as a zombie slayer, Thompson and Approbation Comics has the remedy for what ails you.
