’30 Days of Night’ Red Band Trailer

Empress Eve   |

30 Days of NightSony/Columbia Pictures has posted a red band trailer on the official site for 30 Days of Night, the big-screen adaptation of the graphic novel by Steve Niles.

On the homepage, click on “Watch restricted content – 18 and over only” and a pop-up window will prompt you for first and last name, zip code, and date of birth to gain access to the R-rated trailer.

In 30 Days of Night, vampires invade the town of Barrow, Alaska, taking advantage of the town’s 30 straight days of darkness to feed on its inhabitants. The David Slade-directed film from producers Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert and stars Josh Hartnett and Melissa George and will open in theaters October 19, 2007.

The rest of the site has gone live, so if you choose “enter the site,” you’ll have access to downloads (so far, just five wallpapers to choose from) and the original teaser trailer; also, information about the film and its cast and crew along with bios of the graphic novel’s author Steve Niles and its illustrator Ben Templesmith; and coming soon under “Games” there will be an online game which will feature original character design by Templesmith.

[UPDATE 7/30/07 @9:45] When you first enter the site and get through the flash countdown, there’s a section called “Explore Barrow Alaska” and when you scroll your mouse to the right, you can go through the town as it slowly goes from light to darkness (you can see the Sun going down). Once you are plunged into darkness, scroll your mouse back to the left at the bottom and go back through the town that way. Click on the red splotches for scenes from the film.

Also, there was a button “PLAY” at the bottom near the Diner which opens up a shooting game. I don’t know if this is supposed to be the aforementioned game with the original character design (when you click on the “GAME” button, it still has a “coming soon” message).
