LOL Great review, Doc. Yeah, this film was okay. Not great but not terrible either. Terry Farrell was pretty good in this film I thought, although she would be a lot better on DS9. Can’t wait for the BLOODLINES review.

If you are still looking for bad movies to make fun of after this series, I would recommend Children of the Corn. There are 7 and they get progressively more incoherant with little to no connection to each other.

I saw some of this movie, but not the whole thing, at a movie theater I worked at when I was back in high school. I remember some guy I worked with saying, “finally! A movie worth watching!” You have to be desperate to say that about any movie to say it about this one! It looked subpar at best, with a scary moment or two here or there. This is probably not a movie I will be in any rush to see anytime soon. I still need to see the first one.

Wow, if the early Hellraiser films aren’t to your liking, JUST WAIT til you get to the direct-to-DVD movies, especially the one with Craig Sheffer (HA HA HA!)

I saw HRIII in the theater and while I didn’t love it, I was psyched to see the pre-DS9 Terry Farrell, who I remembered from TV’s Paper Dolls as well as her guest appearance on the short-lived 1984 TV show Spencer starring Chad Lowe (Chad Lowe goes on a blind date with Terry Farrell and they kiss! I was very excited — but to my defense, I was only 12.) Oh, and you know me: I was like “woo hoo HEAVY METAL” but then I was pissed it was so stereotypical (don’t forget, we’d just got over that PMRC crap a few years earlier, so “our team” didn’t need this).

Anyhow, at the time, it seemed like the filmmakers had put more money into HRIII to make it more of a mainstream film and I think it was, but there was some pure cheese in there too. HRII is definitely the best one.

Oh, and I saw HRIV (the “Pins in Space” one) in the theater, too and I remember I got a good laugh. After seeing this, you’ll know where they got the idea for Jason X.

And for the record, I LOVE Clive Barker, loves his books, and in person, he’s a great guy. He’s a gay British artist, so if there’s anyone who can use term “fantastique” with a straight face, it’s definitely him.

My brother and I watched all the theatrical Hellraiser movies around the same time we watched all the then-available Prophecy movies (which was four back then, I believe). Have you considered doing a Prophecy Experiment after this? It’s another bastion of mediocre filmmaking that seems to get sequel after sequel. We enjoyed them for what they were (as we did with the Hellraisers) at the time.
