The official Hellboy movie site has been updated with new concept art for Guillermo del Toro‘s Hellboy II: The Golden Army.

The latest concept art can be found in the Gallery section of the site and it includes descriptions from del Toro and concept artist Francisco Ruiz Velasco.

For the image at right of Hellboy’s “Big Baby” gun, del Toro gives the following description:

Pablo Angeles designed the final Big Baby gun. As with ALL the equipment of the BPRD, I wanted it to feel “used” and dented – somewhat low-tech and gnarly. I hate hi-tech. We gave it a shotgun or revolver feel… Tex Avery and Chuck Jones were the main inspiration, hence the WWII style cartoon on the handle. The loading mechanism also needed to be “Hand of Doom”-friendly.
