This is classic Heston post apocalyptic cinema. Like the Planet Of Apes and Soylent Green, this version rounds out his everyman of the end of the world phase of his career. It's his film and while not faithful, still an awesome film from that time period.

I watched this movie right after reading the book for the first time (didn't even know the Vincent Price film existed) and I have to admit, even though it didn't exactly satisfy my desire to see the book brought to life, I didn't hate this version at all. The flick has it's merits, and those slightly outweighed the flaws.

Very nice review!
