At times it was ridiculous (the multiple escape attempts, etc), but endearingly so. It was cool enough that I was willing to suspend my disbelief and go along for the ride. My favorite part was Michael "Omar Little" Williams as a sniper watching the whole thing unfold and commenting on the action like a well-armed Greek chorus. In fact there were quite a few actors from The Wire moonlighting in The Kill Point. Two of Wolf's crew are on that show, and the head of the SWAT team was Avon Barksdale's sister.
