"Family ties" is a fine example on how a sitcom should be. Funny, smart, entertaining, and at times emotional.
I started watching this show when it first aired in 1982, and here i am now watching it on DVD 20 something years later.
To start off i think EVERYONE on the show was great. But...I truly love alex p. keaton's character, and michael j. fox always delivered. The episode that comes to mind immediately is : "A-my name is alex". Without a doubt the most touching piece of television I ever experienced. If you've never seen it i advise you to watch it. You'll never forget it.
I still cannot believe it was over 20 years ago that the show first came out! I have all the seasons released so far (1-5) and looking foward to finishing my collection with the last two.
Long live family ties....and Alex P keaton!

Even though I grew up watching this show, I had no idea the theme song was by Johnny Mathis. And I totally didn't know that it was Deniece "Let's Here It For The Boy" Williams on it with him.

Great show though. I thought Michael J. Fox was awesome in it, though I hated that he was a young republican, but it made for some funny dialogue between him and his liberal parents.
