First Look: Ray Park as Snake Eyes in ‘G.I. Joe’

The Movie God   |

GI Joe Snake Eyes‘G.I. Joe’ Takes A Turn For The Better

A lot of people have been very skeptical of the G.I. Joe movie project that has been in the works. Various reports, questionable casting announcements, and even a couple of unofficial images were released that were not making fans and followers look at this movie with a smile.

Now, two OFFICIAL pictures have been released that may just throw up some points for the other side. These images are of fan favorite character, Snake Eyes, looking fairly bad-ass, if I do say so myself. Definitely click the image at right and on the second one below to see the much larger, defined pictures to drool over.

Now, I’ve had my fair share of G.I. Joe toys and loved them, but I never really watched the cartoons or anything like that, so I’m not yet sure of how I feel about this project. With these pictures comes a certain amount of reassurance, though; not only do they ensure that the movie will be good — but hell, how can you not love the hell out of them?

GI Joe Snake EyesSnake Eyes is being played by Ray Park, known best for playing Darth Maul in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, Toad in the original X-Men, and the Headless Horseman in Sleepy Hollow! He’s being joined by Dennis Quaid (you know who Dennis Quaid is!) as Hawk, Sienna Miller (Stardust, Factory Girl) as Baroness, Channing Tatum (Stop-Loss) as Duke, Marlon Wayans (Scary Movie, Requiem for a Dream) as Ripcord, Christopher Eccleston (Heroes, Gone in 60 Seconds) as Destro, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt (3rd Rock From the Sun, Brick) as Cobra Commander (which is interesting, although there is a mask, so hey, fun times!), as well as some other roles apparently. Stephen Sommers (The Mummy and Van Helsing) directs.

G.I. Joe is scheduled for a Summer 2009 release date.

Hey…I agree these pics make me a little bit more comfortable about the project.

Check our site for more info on the script and some spoiler information.

The costume actually looks good rather than cheesy…at least the Costume department have done their research!

Jeez. Those shots are pretty awesome. I have my doubts about this movie. The GI Joe brand could either be treated with the sort of respect that Devil’s Due’s comics have been given or it could wind up like those Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movies which were more like the Archie comics than the original Eastman and Laird books.
