UNIVERSAL STUDIOS HOLLYWOOD CELEBRATES EARTH DAY
WITH FREE, FAMILY-FRIENDLY “ECO-FAIR”
FEATURING CELEBRITIES AND INTERACTIVE EXHIBITS
SATURDAY, APRIL 26, FROM 10 A.M. TO 4 P.M.

EVENT COINCIDES WITH MOBILE
HAZARDOUS WASTE DISPOSAL DROP-OFF;
FREE PARKING OFFERED FOR HYBRID VEHICLES

Universal City, CA—The Universal Studios Hollywood “Eco-Fair” returns on Saturday, April 26 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. as The Entertainment Capital of L.A. celebrates Earth Day with over 30 engaging and educational displays, celebrity appearances, an offer of free parking for hybrid vehicles, and a hazardous waste disposal drive sponsored by the City and County of Los Angeles.

“The Office” star Melora Hardin and Lauren Koslow from “Days of our Lives” will autograph eco-friendly bags and help dispense energy efficient light bulbs at the Environmental Media Association’s booth. Designed to captivate the imagination of guests, the free Eco-Fair will also include interactive exhibits by Bell ’s Bugs, La Knitterie Parisienne and the Hollywood Beautification Team.

Bell ’s Bugs will offer a “hands-on” lesson on the vital impact reptiles and insects have on the environment. Some of the more animated critters will include an Australian Bearded Dragon Lizard named “Benny,” Ironclad beetles that “play dead,” Darkling “stink” Beetles, a velvet ant that‘s actually a female wasp and a friendly Tarantula named “Rosey” who is eager to shake everyone’s hands.

La Knitterie Parisienne will offer a display of organic knitting yarns made from soy, hemp, bamboo and corn with accompanying bamboo knitting needless, while the Hollywood Beautification Team will give out free trees to local visitors. The list of more than 30 participating organizations will include Arbonne International, Baldwin Hills Conservancy, Beyond Learning, BioBags, Bell’s Bugs, Buygreen.com, L.A. City and County Departments of Public Works, Environmental Media Association, G-Diapers, GOOD Magazine, Green Bliss Eco-Spa, Green Clean L.A., GreenIQ.com, Greenopia, Heal the Bay, Healthy Child Healthy World, Hollywood Beatification Team, Images and Trademarks, International Bird Rescue, L.A. Conservation Corps, LADWP, Lucky Earth, Nestle Waters, Pixxlz.com, Reuseniks, Sheraton, Soaptopia, TreePeople, Verde Bag, Verde Paperie, Vetraceuticals, Vy & Elle and the Studio City knitting yarn emporium La Knitterie Parisienne.

Another highlight of the Eco-Fair will be the collection of hazardous waste materials sponsored by the City and County of Los Angeles from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Guests bringing at least one item for safe disposal, including paint solvents, motor oils, cleaning products, pool and garden chemicals, auto and household batteries, monitors, printers, televisions, video games, cell phones, stereos and electronic toys, can enjoy free parking. Free parking for vehicles displaying a California Clean Air sticker will be offered from April 20-26.
The Eco-Fair is part of the company’s ongoing “Green is Universal” initiative, a campaign to raise awareness and activate consumers to help save the environment, as well as a long-term commitment to green NBC Universal’s own operations.

Universal Studios Hollywood, The Entertainment Capital of L.A., includes a full-day, movie-based theme park and Studio Tour; the CityWalk entertainment, shopping and dining complex; the Universal CityWalk Cinemas; and the Gibson Amphitheatre concert and special event venue. The theme park features such groundbreaking attractions as “Revenge of the Mummy™ – The Ride,” “Shrek 4-D™,” “Jurassic Park® – The Ride,” the world-renowned Studio Tour, which takes guests behind-the-scenes of such landmark TV and movie locations and sets as Steven Spielberg’s “War of the Worlds,” and the new mega-attraction, “The Simpsons Ride,” opening this spring.
