Brett Ratner To Direct ‘Beverly Hills Cop 4’?
space
The Movie God   |  @   |

Beverly Hills CopHow ironic.

Earlier this week, I wrote about Brett Ratner possibly doing a God of War movie and how bad he would be for it (see Brett Ratner to Direct “˜God of War’?). Now comes word of another movie he is in talks to direct — Beverly Hills Cop 4.

THIS is a movie that I can see Brett Ratner directing. It’s very likely to be nothing like the other BHC movies and also very likely to get the cold, hard PG-13 treatment, but who knows, maybe they’ll pull a shiny miracle out of their ass.

Eddie Murphy is apparently already attached to reprise his role, which I think could be good for him — he needs to step away from the awful crap he’s been doing and get back into movies made for adults — but this of course means avoiding the aforementioned PG-13 rating and sticking to the Beverly Hills Cop roots.

‘Transformers 2’ Is Rolling Out & Blowing Stuff Up

MajorJJH   |

JazzA lot of news jumped up out of nowhere over the past few days concerning Transformers 2. The sequel to the popular but polarizing 2007 film directed by Michael Bay will hopefully follow on from the small clip shown during the credits, showing us Starscream leaving Earth’s orbit in a hurry.

First off is the return of an Autobot many were resigned to see atop a scrap heap. Being torn in two by Megatron often has a debilitating effect on your future, but according to Transformers World 2005, the Pontiac Solstice that was Jazz’s vehicle prop arrived on the set of Transformers 2 earlier this week. And while this doesn’t 100 percent guarantee Jazz’s appearance, the fact that Darius McCrary, the voice of Jazz, is now on set adds a little bit more credibility to Jazz’s return.

Also returning are a few humans to join Shia LaBeouf, including Megan Fox, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson, and John Turturro.

Week of Geek: Indiana Jones

Indy 4 novelStarWars.com has posted an excerpt from the Prologue of James Rollins‘ novelization of Indiana Jones and Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

Rollins adapted the novel, which is available now at Amazon or autographed by Rollins at the Star War Shop, and expands on the story by George Lucas and Jeff Nathanson and screenplay by David Koepp.

One of the expanded parts of the book is the Prologue, which takes place in 1546 and focuses on explorer/conquistador Francisco de Orellana’s search for the legendary city of gold, El Dorado. In the film, which opens in the year 1957, Indiana Jones (Harrison Ford) and Mutt Williams (Shia LaBeouf) go on a quest to find Orellana’s grave, which will lead them to the crystal skull.

Check out the beginning of the excerpt here below.

Frank Miller Assures That ‘The Spirit’ Is Not Another ‘Sin City’
space
Empress Eve   |  @   |

The SpiritIn an upcoming entry in his production blog, writer/director Frank Miller addresses some concerns that fans have that his upcoming adaptation of Will Eisner 1940’s comic book series The Spirit will be a retread of Miller’s Sin City movie.

After the film’s teaser trailer and outdoor banner were released last month, many people thought its look — black and white with a splash of red, placed against green scene sets — too closely resembled Miller’s co-directing venture with Robert Rodriguez on 2005’s Sin City.

But Miller confirms that The Spirit is actually a full-color movie, and that he hopes to make it into a movie trilogy all its own.

The director also said that with The Spirit movie, he is trying to do what Eisner, his mentor, intended by creating “something new, witty, and exploratory” and that it will not be just like Sin City.
