Studio Trio Brings ‘Witchblade’ To The Big Screen

The Movie God   |

WitchbladeWitchblade is a very popular comic book series, it was a TV show that ran for a couple seasons, and now, as with most popular franchises, we’re going to get to see this bad boy, er, girl, on the big screen!

Variety is reporting that a trio of studios — Platinum Studios, Top Cow Productions, and Arclight Films — will bring the series to life with a live-action feature film and is already scouting a location in Australia for filming. Top Cow also produces the comic book series — which began in 1995 and still publishes today — for which the film will be based, making them very popular these days (the big-screen version of their comic Wanted arrives in theaters in June).

Specific names involved with Witchblade include Scott Mitchell Rosenberg and Steve Squillante from Platinum, and Nigel Odell and Gary Hamilton of Arclight producing with Marc Silvestri (who created the series with David Wohl) and Matt Hawkins from Top Cow and Rich Marincic from Platinum executive producing.

Witchblade is a devastating weapon that only women can wield. It’s a gauntlet that attaches to the woman who finds it and becomes a part of her. It can basically do anything, from expanding its armor from your arm to your entire body as needed; it can shoot flame; if you’re not fit to wear it, it will take your arm off — it’s alive. To sum this up, it’s the most kick-ass weapon in the history of mankind and it’d be a very poor decision to cross whoever wears it.

Along with creators Silvestri and Wohl, the Witchblade comic book series was written by Brian Haberlin and Christina Z, with the artist Michael Turner.

Stay tuned for this one, we should be covering it thoroughly!
