Actually, Christine, it WAS supposed to be a B-movie; Shymalan said so: http:///tinyurl.com/5p25lz

It's still absolutely fucking terrible, however, and I think the reviewer has no concept of what the word "suspense" means. People randomly starting to kill themselves is not suspense.Mark Wahlberg comes off as a wet noodle who doesn't do one goddamn thing throughout the movie to merit his being the protagonist. Not one. Goddamn. Thing.

The movie starts, the movie stops, and there is nothing interesting in the middle. Utter garbage.

You know, when I left the theater I was disappointed, but then this strange thing began to happen. The more I talked about it with other people, the more I started to like it and the more it creeped me out. Thing is, this movie was so unlike his other movies that it was disappointing to not have a twist or more intense character development (and I do have to say that I absolutely loved "The Lady in the Water". I don't care what anyone else says about it!). But it's true to form in terms of true-life. The panic isn't embellished or over-done in any way. The close-up's are fantastic and the silly lines are fabulous. What's creepy is the unknown origin of the event and that it really could take place and actually makes a lot of sense. This movie is growing on me by the minute, much like how the event cascaded over the course of 24 hours.

I thought this move slow, boring like a bad TV movie. Most of the actually interesting scenes were already shown in TV commercial. I wanted to leave but my girlfiend said wait maybe there will be a surprise or it might get interesting. Wrong, she admited this movie was a waste of our money, I wanted to see The Hulk.

The problem with this movie being "pure B-movie bliss," as you call it, is that it wasn't intended to be a B-movie. It's supposed to be good. This was supposed to be the scary movie of the summer, a break from all the superhero movies. Instead it was one huge disappointment.
