New Image of Christian Bale in ‘Terminator Salvation’ + Actor Cast as Young Terminator

The Movie God   |

T4Recently we did a little bit on EW‘s preview of Comic Con and the Star Trek posters that were being handed out there.

Within that preview of the Con, there was also this new image of Christian Bale as John Connor in the upcoming Terminator Salvation. (The Future Begins? Hmm.) Check out the hi-res photo below.

Along with this, /Film found this bit about a guy named Roland Kickinger that sorta looks like Arnold Schwarzenegger who will supposedly be playing Arnie’s sacred part; he told Clinton News Record:

It’s Arnold’s character in the first Terminator. That’s basically my role, but 20 years before, so it establishes how the Terminator [came] about. There’s a very strong scene in the film where John Connor for the first time meets the Terminator, and he doesn’t know if he’s a good guy or a bad guy.

I have to assume this guy’s part wont be huge. While Mr. Kickinger looks a lot like Arnold, he isn’t him, and carbon-copy or not, the differences between the iconic character we’re all so familiar with and what we could get here with someone new… it could make it very hard to take in. I know they’re saying this is the T-800 20 years prior to what we saw, but c’mon, being as how he’s a robot and with all the time traveling and shenanigans they can get into, just saying “he’s younger” would be like someone poking me in the eye and running away giggling.

Kickinger

Who knows, maybe this is the big new geek debate of the future: Can the T-800 be younger? Maybe it’s just a cop-out. I can understand Arnie having all these “Governor” things to do, but there have been rumors of cameo possibilities — personally, I’d rather they wait until they could get the real deal back or not have the part in there at all. You be the judge.

On the bright side, they have their man for the Conan and Red Sonja re-imagining-visions-makes! Done and done. I’m goin’ on break. Pfft, casting isn’t so hard.

Why couldn’t they just say he’s the T-400 or something? Just an early model.

Granted that’s still a copout, but not as bad as saying the skin on the terminator hasn’t aged as much or whatever.

I am totally looking forward to seeing the new Terminator… Christian Bale tends to do a great job no matter what role he takes
