‘Twilight’ Stars Get Cut Off At The MTV VMAs [w/Video]

I suffered through teh MTV VIdeo Music Awards not to hear the music (oh lord, no), but to see the presenters. As I Tweeted earlier, the VMAs would be a pretty cool show if only there was no music.
Anyhow, an hour into the show, Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, Cam Gigandet, and Taylor Lautner, stars of Summit Entertainment’s highly anticipated Twilight, came out to introduce the live performance for best rock nominee Paramore.
The intro was incredibly brief and all the actors got to say their lines, except Pattinson, who was obviously supposed to do the actually announcement, but he only got to say “Please welcome…” before VMA host Russell Brand cut him off and started blabbing. Pattinson tried to talk into his mike two or so more times, but couldn’t get a word in and in the end, it was Brand who said the band’s name, which led into the performance.
Ok, fine, it’s a live broadcast so shit happens, but what’s insulting is how MTV has been promoting the hell of out the fact that the Twilight stars would be at the VMAs and then you barely see them and they get cut off, too.
What makes me laugh is that BEFORE the show aired, MTV Movies Blog posted an entry asking Twilight fans to post their reaction to the VMA presentation, thinking, I’m sure, that everyone would be so happy. But after that foul up, the comments are coming in from many a pissed-off fan.
So, screw MTV’s page, leave a comment here below to let us here at Geeks of Doom know what you think of the botched-up Twilight presentation.

MTV really dropped the ball on the host this year. Not only did he decide to share with everyone who we should vote for, he also made fun of America and Americans alike. Great job MTV. ………………….Secondly, the VMA’s are watched by younger audiences, and perhaps Brand should have thought of that before proclaiming sex, even at the Jonas’ brothers age, is better than waiting. With all the teen pregnancy going around? Another stellar job……………………………………… And FINALLY, as a host of an MTV event, with MTV FALLING ALL OVER THEMSELVES about Twilight, you’d think the host would RESPECT the amount of time the Twilight cast was on for. Maybe even LISTEN a little bit, instead of interrupting ROBERT PATTINSON, when half of the VMA home audience tuned in for HIM…not for the below-par show we received. What a joke.

I was quite annoyed. If MTV hadn’t made such a big deal of the twilight cast appearing, I don’t think most fans would have gotten upset. But to shout from the rooftops “Twilight cast will be presenting! Twilight cast will be presenting!” and then stick them in some aisle, give them one line apiece, and to cut off the lead actor and not let him finish his line? That’s just rude. Twilighters were waiting for this moment, and Russell Brand couldn’t keep his obnoxious mouth shut for 2 minutes!

I have to admit that i was pretty angry that Russel cut Robert off… I mean, i think that it was pretty unnecessary. It wasn’t even like they had to speed things up, because Russel was just babbling for thirty seconds. You could tell from Rob’s face that he was pretty confused and not sure what to do. The other three did fantastic, though! It was nice seeing the four of them all together.

when i heard him start talking about twilight, as soon as they all started walking on the stage i screamed my lungs out. when russel brand cut pattinson off, i flippedddd shit. i love pattinson, and that was one of the reasons i watched it because i heard that pattinson, stweart, lautner and gigante were going to be on it, and to see that he cut him off was very rude.

it made me pretty damn mad to see that russel whats his face cut robert off. I waited for like an hour or so just to see the cast of twilight and then everyone gets to talk except for robert. The person who i wanted to hear the most voice was cut of by russel. It made me so pissed.

i pretty much had the same reaction as many other twilighters already posted. all the music was horrible and i was suffering bored to death, but i just wanted to see the cast and rob present and then he didn’t get to speak!! i don’t hate that russell guy, btu he was pretty annoying!! and he cut rob off!!!! he tried like 5 times to say his line and the guy just kept chattering on about something stupid!!

I only watched the piece of shit show in the first place for ROB! For weeks us Twilighters have been beyond excited to see them, and MTV didn’t let us forget for even a moment that they were going to be one. And then this shit happens! Man, everyone on IMDb was ready to cut that fucker for doing that, seriously.
I mean, yeah sure, he was pretty funny, but still..
you don’t get in the way of Twilighters and what they want. No, just no.

my best friend and i reserved the entire evening for the VMAs, hoping to see some twilight loveliness.
we turned when red carpet started, and we waited for AN HOUR to not even get a freakin’ glimpse of the cast!
whatever.
we began to watch the show, anticipating the moment our faves would come onto the stage.
while waiting, we had to listen to brand spew political garbage about candidates, the candidate’s FAMILIES, etc. which is ridiculous because THIS ISN’T EVEN HIS COUNTRY!!!
then, as the people we were actually waiting for, were finally introduced we started screaming and getting unbelievably excited.
but then we noticed brand was in the background still, annoyingly so.
then the sht hit the fan.

i was so appalled and dissapointed!
i’ve never seen that happen in VMA history.
and for it to happen to them was so wrong!
i feel so awful for the cast because they were treated so poorly.
they didn’t even get to stand on stage, they were given a freakin’ AISLE!

In fact I really enjoy his sense of humour and his original personality and sense of style…..
But COME ON!! Didn’t someone from MTV brief him on this? I do think that what he did was majorly rude but come on now, someone should have warned him.
And all this after MTV hyped their appearance just have them present for a band (dont get me wrong, I love Paramore) for like 30 seconds or something. At least the rest of them each got to say something……but poor Rob! I felt so annoyed and embarrassed and annoyed for him.

I wasted about two hours off my life on that crappy show, and what do i get? About two seconds of what i wanted to see. Brand needs to learn some matters, and fast. He is an asshole, and not just because he cut Robert off, right when that show started he took a shot at our politics, which was uncalled for. Brand thought he was better than everyone, well let me let you in on a little secret Brand, most people here dont know who you are, and do not care who you are. I didnt watch the show to see your stupid face, or hear your degrading comments, i watched for the cast of Twilight!!! MTV makes a big deal about the cast so they would get better ratings. Well MTV you got what you wanted, more viewers, but i also think you lost alot of respect. I understand that the show was not about Twilight, but i do expect what was promised, and that was that the CAST would present an award, not brand. You shove the MOST ANTICIPATED movie of the year to the back, while people who shouldnt even be there get the spotlight. Do not promise us something and than not show it!! I have never much cared for MTV, and this put the nail in the coffin.

MTV made us all think that Twilight would at least be presenting an award. All they were doing was introducing an act! I did NOT like the host at all. He was just plain out rude. First off.. he was funny about his wild look. I loved his look. But then the brit started talking about American politics.. and hes not even voting! Calling our president a retarded cowboy?? I am not saying that im all for bush… but i still believe he shouldnt be called a retarded cowboy on live tv. He also talked about how the jonas brothers shouldnt keep their virtue. Im glad Jordan Sparks said something. This is what irritated me the most. He was basically telling everyone to go off and have sex.. no matter what the age.

Ok I was forced to sit through Lil Wayne walking around in his underwear just for the chance to see and HEAR Rob and I get this obnoxious jerk talking over him!! The minute that happened I immediately texted my friends. I was SO PISSED! The only reason I watched the freaking show was so that I could see the Twilight cast, and Russell Brand had to freaking ruin it. Why couldn’t he just leave the stage like he did for all the other presenters? Seriously, he needs to GET OVER HIMSELF. I mean, no one over here even knows who he is and probably half the people who watched the show were only watched it to see the cast (we are a rather large fanbase) and he freaking ruined it. The only thing he actually did well was trash his chances at ever being respected in the U.S.
