Is A ‘Dark Knight’ Follow-Up Already Setting Up Shop?

The Movie God   |

After becoming the second-highest grossing film of all time (with hopes of possibly taking the record) it seemed likely that there would be another Batman movie to follow The Dark Knight — whether announced or not. Well, if you’re to believe the word coming out of Chicago these days, they’re already hiring crew and preparing for pre-production on the film, again — announced or not!

Batman On Film has multiple sources — some who worked on both Batman Begins and The Dark Knight — saying that things are shaping up for pre-production to start in February 2009 in order to shoot the actual movie in the summer of 2009.

Whether all of this is true or not, who really knows. But you can’t ignore multiple people saying the same thing, especially when those people have worked on previous films.

If this plays out exactly as stated (unlikely, even if they’re 100% making it), would that set us up for Batman 3 in the summer of 2010?

Let’s hope so!

No, Let’s NOT hope so. Good movies take a long time to make. I like good movies. I’m willing to wait.

  • Siah

ya, plus we’ve got some superhero flics to keep us busy in 09..

  • mo

no, good movies dont take a long time to make, not when you already have 90% of the cast established from the previous films.

a good story can take a while to write, and seeing nolan hasn’t been doing much else than batman, i’m sure it’s the only thing on his mind.

now if any other directors name is on this i’d be nervous…

but honestly the movie can do nothing but fail in comparison, honestly dark knight was a cinematic wake for heath ledger, so it can’t possibly do as well.

i say the sooner the better.

hopefully it wont take the same epic flop as spiderman 3.

No, you’re both wrong. Good movies can take long to make… and sometimes they just happen. Inspiration, collaboration – the sheer art and aesthetics have the potential to overwhelm and underwhelm based on a variety of factors.

In all likelihood, Jason is right – better to take some time – because frankly mo, you’re talking out yer ass with nothing but your opinion.

A good cast – even established – does not necessarily make a good movie. We don’t know what Nolan wants to do next; even when he says so, he could change his mind or lie… And seriously… Dark Knight was not perfect for everyone. Your opinions are interesting… but just opinions.

I am anxious to see if Nolan could swing this into the perfect Batman trilogy, and I’m willing to wait a long while if he thinks he can.

you’re talking from your rectum as well, which is amazing since its the same orafice your mother birthed you from.

and i just gave my opinion, thanks for the personal attack

    assbaby.

  • JoJo

Lets hope they can make as many awesome batman movies as possible. Nolan needs time to get it all right if he wants another EPIC film. Just my thoughts. =)

  • Shanon

It would be awesome if it came out in 2010 as to compliment the iron man sequel that year

  • Richie

I agree with Jason lets not hope so. Remember that Nolan took some time to work on some other films between the first two. If they do start next year with pre-production and filming i hope it was only because Nolan ABSOLUTELY wanted to,and not because of WB or fans. Nolan needs time to relax and the focus on Batman. If it worked the first time then don’t try to change it.
