‘Star Trek Experience’ To Get New Home In Downtown Vegas
space
Empress Eve   |  @   |

On September 1, Star Trek: The Experience, a featured attraction at the Las Vegas Hilton, sadly closed its doors after a 10-year run.

The Las Vegas hotel, which is located off the famed Vegas strip, claimed that the attraction wasn’t bringing in enough visitors or even the amount of Star Trek fans that it originally did a decade ago.

But Star Trek: The Experience, which contained two simulator rides and a Trek museum, along with themed shops and restaurants, might have a new home in downtown Las Vegas at the Neonopolis, a retail and entertainment center on Fremont Street. Sources say a “deal is close to completion.”

Let’s hope the deal goes through and that the Star Trek: The Experience finds great success at its new home. For anyone who’s a Trek fan, this was the ultimate in themed fun for the franchise. I’ve been to Las Vegas several times — beginning with my first in 1999 when I stay at the Las Vegas Hilton — and each time, I’ve visited the Star Trek: The Experience.

I still have my bottle of Romulan Ale from the last trip in May 2007, when I snapped that picture up top of Morn’s Sampler beer special from Quark’s Bar. I wish now that I had written down the names of all of these beverages, because the only two I remember now are the Romulan Ale and Klingon Blood Wine. But, I “sampled” them all while munching on an order of Holy Rings of Betazed (onion rings).

  1. I’m happy that it will get a new home. I loved the star trek experience, expecially the klingon attack. I am just like you, I still have my romulan ale from 8 years ago, along with my borg water bottle. That’s always been one of my stops when I go to vegas. Even if you aren’t a star trek fan, you will still really enjoy the experience.

  2. What a relief. It was really sad when the Hilton shut it down.
I wonder if they will be changing the content of the Experience – since it is no longer in the Hilton. Some of the video content of the Las Vegas strip was dated…
I sure am happy that maybe the Borg Sphere’s and Warp Cor Breaches will be served again soon. Did they say when it will be re-built?

  3. This is great news. I went twice in two years back in the day, but that was before they added the Borg ride. I was actually in Vegas earlier this year, but was too busy to visit the Experience … two days after I got home, I found out it was closing and almost kicked myself for not making the time.

    Second chances rule!

  5. Any update on this? Did it re-open in downtown vegas?

  6. Nope. Last word is that it may happen at the Paramount Park in Spain in 2015.
