You keep repeating “Gossip Girl” over and over … but he’s also the creator of the TV show “Chuck”. Which may or may not be to your taste, but it’s a solid action show, with no teens. So at this point, he’s established at least some range. And as Cass said, he’s going to be writing about teenagers. The whole teen mutant thing is really just a metaphor for the changes brought on by puberty, so this guy is probably well-equipped to handle that. At least he’ll probably make a better effort to treat the characters as characters and not as action figures, the way Brett Ratner did.

On the other hand, he’s writing about teenagers, which is exactly what he’s doing now. Directing might be a bit different — not only is it a completely different genre, but it’s a different screen, but the writing isn’t surprising at all, really.

i remember skipping all the young x-men issues while reading one of the last x-men story lines.

i’m sure it’ll be the same for the movie whoever winds up directing it.
