I would say it's because she dropped the ball with several of the most anticipted key scenes from the book, several were not there or were less than stellar like the piano scene in the book on film was limp as a wet noodle. of course the vamp heroes eyes bulging out of his head every time he smelled the girl had even the girls in theater laughing. I was forced to watch this crap and blown away by how stupid it was, what happened to horrfying scary vampires? the fact it lost 62% of its demo graphc after one week should say something, sure it was the biggest female directed opening ever, but that was due to the popularity of the books not the director and shouldn't be looked upon as a measure of the directors talent or box office appeal.
