Frank Miller Confirms ‘Sin City 2′ Progress!

The Movie God   |

Sin City 2Frank Miller spoke to IGN and the slightly popular topic of Sin City 2 came up somewhere along the line. On most occasions this wouldn’t be something that bared much fruit, but in this particular case, Miller offered up some hope for the masses that the movie was indeed taking steps and could be on the way! The hopeful sequel is supposed to based upon the A Dame To Kill For storyline from the graphic novel.

Miller was in the U.K. doing a junket for his upcoming movie The Spirit when IGN popped the question and received this answer:

Sin City 2 is written. It’s mainly a matter of working out the details of the production. I’m hoping to do it with Robert Rodriguez again in the same circumstances that we did the first one, and we could be shooting as soon as April.

Written? April!?

This is fantastic news.

Of course, this by no means promises that Sin City 2 will steadily move forward, begin filming in April, and be out for Christmas next year — in fact, it’s highly unlikely — but this does allow us to hope for some sort of movement forward now. In a perfect world you would have this confirmed within the week along with Robert Rodriguez to direct and old names like Rosario Dawson, Mickey Rourke, and Clive Owen as well as rumored new names like Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie signing on to the movie, but we don’t live in quite that perfect world.

While Rosario Dawson confirmed to IESB that there was a script, they were hoping to start in April, and she was reprising her role as Gail — Mickey Rourke was also asked by Superhero Hype about reprising the fan-favorite role of Marv, to which he responded:

No, I’m not interested in that right now. That’s not a reality right now. It’s pissing in the wind. There’s different factions going different directions there. I don’t know. That’s three hours of make up and I’m claustrophobic, so I’m going to have to work something out.

So while Dawson is in, it doesn’t sound good for Mr. Rourke. I’d like to think that between now and the time this actually happens they find a way to change his mind, but we can only wait and see on that.

In any case, we have a lot of Sin City 2 excitement going on today, and that’s something!
