It is the performances that make this so gripping. Langella really plays him as Hunter S. Thompson described him so many years ago. You only feel a little empathy for him-- Langella really creates a fully fleshed out creature that seems alive. It couldn't happen today with any of these persons. You're so right. Awesome review.
