They showed the original... doesn't seem fair to not show the ones we are more used to seeing. Also, showing the opening title logo isn't necessarily the one we are accustomed to. Nemesis for instance, if you looked at all the ads, including the trailer, posters, tv spots... all used a Romulan bird in the background, pretty sweet design for a sucktastic film.
