It would mean they watered him down even more than they did Doom in the FF movie. The Mandarin should be this super-badass martial artist even at the early stages of his career. If he's just some guy who can be owned by a jury-rigged clunker-armor, then he'd be one of the most anti-climactic villains EVER! I hope that’s not The Mandarin. I thought it would be awesome if we see more of the 10 rings in Iron Man 2 as an overarching enemy, so that all the clues will be there for the Mandarin to have been the overarching enemy all along. The 10 rings came from all over the world, so it wouldnt be hard to think of some baddies in IM2 as part of it. And the character is called the Mandarin. Kind of hard for a Middle Eastern guy to pull that off. If he indeed is not the Mandarin, then he works for him. The ring thing I figured was a pretty big arrow pointing to "Yes, I have something to do with the Mandarin."
