A movie adaptation of the brilliant TV series, Lost, has been subtly mentioned from time-to-time, but with no real guarantee whether it will actually happen or not. To add a giant slice of interesting to all of those subtle mentions, series co-creator and writer Damon Lindelof has shared a little information on the prospective film.
Lindelof explains that there could always be a movie, whether it is a few years down the road, or if it’s a reboot twenty years down the road. But the bomb came when he also admitted that all of the characters that we know, love, and even hate from the show — they won’t be in the movie.
Here’s the quote, transcribed by Latino Review from the video interview that can be seen at the bottom of this story!
At the end of Season 6, their story – all their character resolutions will happen. The characters that we love and cared about, and invested in, their story is, for all intents and purposes, over.

So what does this mean? It means that the people making this show are doing it the right way. All we’ve ever wanted is to know the answers to the mysteries of the island, and what the destinies of all of these characters is. Instead of taking us for a six-season ride and then making us wait for a movie, they’re ensuring that everything will be wrapped in the prettiest of bows by the end of next season. It also means that this means that there could be more stories down the road that take place on the main character of the show: the island itself.
The one thing that jumps to mind that feels like we might never know the answers to that may just end up in this movie, is that damn statue. I really hope not, because I’m dying for the show to finally stop teasing it and integrate its story into the show, but with only one final season left, who knows if there’s time.
