I have argued with others time and time again, but you summed up EVERY little thing about this remake that I cringed over as well. Michael Myers has been reduced from pure evil to Jason Vorhees like momma's boy. I walked out of the theater thinking, how DARE he even think this was in any way, shape or form good? Excellent review again, and thanks for setting it out straight and not just ass kissing cause of being a fan of Zombie. Perfect review. I don't hate it as much as I did last night when I went on a rant about it, but I still think it's a pretty messed up flick that should have been better. The funny part is that I understand what Zombie was trying to do and I loved the psychological ideas he was trying to present. It was just that the execution wasn't there and it ruined the experience. Plus it doesn't feel like a HALLOWEEN film at all. I don't care who you are - a HALLOWEEN film should feel like a HALLOWEEN film. Not having the theme song play until the end was a slap in the face. I think the performances and the cinematography are the saving graces of the film. I'm still kind of sad about it but at least Zombie tried to do something new with it. I think if you go into this movie with an open mind, you will love it. I took it as more of a psychological movie rather than a thriller. Its plot is unlike any other Halloween movie, which in my opinion was a refreshing surprise. I enjoyed it. I actually completely disagree.
