Cowboy Bebop? Reeves attached??? No. He is not Spike. I'm not bashing his acting skills, as this is often done. I sincerely don't see him as a good fit. However, I don't know who else off the top my head could fit the role. Filling the role of Ed and doing right would be even more a challenge I'd think.
