Wow! One more dumb scene removed from a dumb movie. Please, for the love of all that is holy, don’t let JJ Abrams make another Star Trek movie! Sick him on to the next Transformers movie, since they have no established “minimum level of quality” standards.

I would love to see Janeway and her crew up on the big screen Voyager was a great show and it would be nice to see them do another mission

I think he wants to hang on to the Klingons for a future film. This way they can focus their energies on making whatever alterations that they see fit, like the small ones they did in this film. The Klingons have been begging for a real good cinematic treatment to refresh them for awhile. Next Gen added a lot to the Klingon mythology, but the lack of time and budget made a lot of it seem kind of silly. Abrams will bring them out in all their glory I am sure.

In an interview, JJ Abrams stated that he really wanted to leave this section of the movie in. There is more to it than just this scene however, but I do agree…the movie would have benefited from having more Nero back story. Here is to hoping for an extended directors cut.
