Very honest and excellent review.
Very hard film for me to watch. I like it more than you, but I also agree with a lot of what you had to say.

I’m glad you nailed this self-indulgent, dull and insulting movie. It is more of a cast of charicatures from the Coen bros. childhood loosely thrown together to make a statement about relative misery and perspective (don’t forget Schroedinger’s cat). When I read reviews that said this movie punctuated this moral dilemma with humor, I realized that I just don’t find amplifying obnoxiousness funny (aka Adam Sandleresque) unless it is taken to absurdity (aka early Woody Allen).

They should make a film about ‘Job’. That story has always intrigued me.
