Broken Lizard Says ‘Super Troopers 2′ Is Moving Forward & Brian Cox Will Be Back!

The Movie God   |

Super Troopers

Broken Lizard became an instant legend amongst the 18-29 age range when their brilliant 2002 indie comedy Super Troopers was unleashed in 2001. Since then there have been many whispers of a possible sequel, but Broken Lizard moved on to movies like Club Dread and Beerfest — both of which continued their wacky comedy style, but never quite reached the Super Troopers plateau. It is safe to say that the team could never make a sequel and everyone would be okay with that, but you, you, and I all know we would take it in an instant!

While speaking to Movie Cultists about their brand new movie The Slammin’ Salmon, the gang was wooed into spilling some details on the possible Troopers sequel. To their surprise and to our very great joy, they shared that the movie was much further along than we were currently aware of! They confirmed that not only do they have multiple drafts of the script completed, but that they already have money in place and some cast ready and willing to return.

We have the financing, so we’re going to try to make a deal with Fox.

We’re like, three drafts into it. It’s funny, because we have an independent financier — we have a lot of independent financiers — who are like, ‘Give us that fucking movie.’ And we’re like, ‘We will, we will but we have to go through a studio first.’ But it’s a great thing to go to a studio and say, ‘We have the money.’

Also revealed was the fact that the role of Captain O’Hagan is definitely in there, and that Brian Cox is ready and willing to the role he loved doing the first time around.

Yeah, I ran into him last year and he said he’s approached more about Super Troopers than any of the films he’s done. Which is amazing, because you look now at some of the films he’s done — it’s pretty cool.
