Video Games & Film Unite: ‘God Of War 3′ Demo Included On ‘District 9′ Blu-ray
Do not ask how it happened, but for some reason, this news — which seems to have broken in late October — never ever reached our ears, and this pains us. In true “better late than never” fashion, here’s the good news for those of you who also have yet to hear.
On the Playstation blog, Product Marketing Manager of SCEA, Anthony Caiazzo, announced that the realms of video games and movies would finally cross paths in a fashion that did not involve one of them making a terrible adaptation of the other or vice-versa. The big reveal was that when Neil Blomkamp‘s ultra-popular science fiction drama District 9 was released, a playable demo for God of War III would be included exclusively on the Blu-ray edition of the film.
Not that anyone needed more of a reason to go out and buy District 9, but rabid fans of the God of War series will certainly be even more inclined to rush out and buy it now. [...]

Stuart Townsend, Ray Stevenson & Tadanobu Asano To Become The Warriors Three In ‘Thor’
Kenneth Branagh‘s upcoming adaptation of the Norse god comic book superhero Thor is showing up in the news more and more often these days, and with each and every new morsel, the excitement for the movie builds up steadily. The latest news announcement from Marvel is that Thor’s Asgardian god friends the Warriors Three — Volstagg, Fandral, and Hogun — have now been cast!
Branagh has contracted the talents of Stuart Townsend to play the role of Fandral, Tadanobu Asano for Hogun, and the fantastic Ray Stevenson for the part of Volstagg. Townsend is best known for his work as the vampire Lestat in Queen of the Damned and as Dorian Gray in The League of Extraordinary Gentleman. Stevenson recently ended many lives in Punisher: Warzone, but is best used as a brutal warrior, as he has played in King Arthur and on HBO’s Rome. Asano is a Japanese actor who hasn’t done an American film yet, but he appeared in the Oscar nominated Mongol. [...]

Video: Taylor Lautner Debuts ‘New Moon’ Clip On ‘Jay Leno Show’ + Kristen Stewart on ‘The Tonight Show’
 |
Posted by CrueChik | November 17th, 2009 at 8:59 pm |
Well, Twifriends, we are one day closer to the premiere of The Twilight Saga: New Moon and I am one day closer to implosion…or possibly explosion…a little of both? Whatever, point is, I’m freakin’ EXCITED! And last night’s look at the stars on the red carpet for the LA Premiere only served to fuel the fire (believe me, it’s burning, like bad vamp James funeral pyre in Twilight). If you missed it, MTV has tons of great pics here of the Cullens, Wolf Pack, Volturi, and of course, the tasty humans. I for one, have a new appreciation for the Volturi…umm, hello Charlie Bewley, I’m talking to you…B I T E M E.
The New Moon cast is all over the tube in recent weeks, and last night was no exception. Jay Leno had the ab-tabulous Taylor Lautner on his couch last night (lucky, lucky man). Yet another New Moon clip was shared, this one highlighting Bella and Jacob at something of a turning point in their relationship…and let me just say, I’d plant a tree outside my bedroom window if I knew that’s what it would take for Taycob to pay me a little visit.
You can watch the interview here below, as well as the newly released clip. We’ve also embedded the video for Kristen Stewart’s appearance last night on the Tonight Show (more on that below) [...]

Second & Third New ‘Alice In Wonderland’ Posters Released
Recently we were treated by the Mad Hatter (Johnny Depp) himself to a brand new poster for Alice in Wonderland via his Disloyal Subjects of the Mad Hatter Facebook page. He promised that with 7,500 likes, he would release a second “treat,” which he did, and then promised a the third treat would come after 9,000 more likes. These final two posters have now been released and you can check them out right here. They didn’t exactly reach 9,000 to unlock the final poster, but as we said in the first post, the “likes” didn’t likely matter much, and these were being put out no matter what.
One of the posters features Alice and the White Rabbit at one of the Hatter’s lovely tea parties, while the other features the Hatter and the Caterpillar with a suspiciously familiar castle on the horizon. Looks just a little bit like the iconic Walt Disney castle, does it not?

 |
Posted by CrueChik | November 16th, 2009 at 7:44 pm |
OH HAPPY HAPPY DAY, TWIHARDS! IT’S NEW MOON PREMIERE DAY!
Me, I can’t seem to sit still or stop smiling and I just generally want to jump out of my skin because The Twilight Saga: New Moon is having its official premiere tonight in Los Angeles. Since we can’t all be at the premiere, you can watch the Red Carpet coverage beginning at 5 PM PST/8 PM EST at MySpace.
We’ve embedded the live stream and the chat room here below, so you can watch the coverage and chat about it right here!
If I could, I would totally be on the Red Carpet right now, awaiting the arrival of Rob Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner, and the rest of the vamps and wolfies. Alas, real life prevents me from doing so, but I have been living vicariously through the many fans who have been camped out since as early as this past Thursday (now that’s devotion folks, I don’t think I’d do this unless, say, Rob was actually sleeping with me in my tent…with Taylor…and Kellan…um, I’d better stop now, the mind…it wanders to dark, dark places).
Oh, and after you’re done watching the live stream of the Red Carpet events, be sure to tune into the Jay Leno Show tonight at 10pm for Taylor Lautner’s appearance, where he’ll be debuting a new clip from New Moon! [...]

‘Star Trek’ Season 3 Blu-ray To Contain Never Aired Alternate Pilot
Fans of the original Star Trek television series already know all the details behind “The Cage,” the original pilot for the 1960′s series. The first pilot did not include William Shatner as Captain James T. Kirk, and was rejected by the network at the time for being “too cerebral.” Instead of scrapping the show, created by Gene Roddenberry, NBC ordered a second pilot, “Where No Man Has Gone Before,” which did star Shatner and led to the series’ three-season run.
Apparently, there was an alternate version of the second pilot which was completed in 1965 that was never aired and never released to the general public. This version of “Where No Man Has Gone Before” was completed in 1965 and features archived footage never shown before and is believed to be what was originally screened for NBC.
The alternate second pilot will be included in the release of the Star Trek: The Original Series – Season 3 Blu-ray , due out on December 15, 2009.
According to THR, the newly discovered pilot will be presented in three parts with 1970s-style act breaks and contains an entirely different version of Captain James T. Kirk’s opening monologue (“But now a new task. A probe out into where no man has gone before”) with music that contrasts from the famous opening theme and an extended action sequence.
Check out the video here below which contains some clips from the unreleased alternate pilot, as well as the full list of Blu-ray extras from the upcoming Season 3 release [...]

The ‘Inglourious Basterds’ Comic We All Want
 |
Posted by Empress Eve | November 16th, 2009 at 12:43 pm |
Over the weekend, head geek of Ain’t It Cool, Harry Knowles, posted to his Twitter account links to images of what he called “Jack Kirby’s Premiere ish of a 5-issue INGLOURIOUS BASTARDS mini-series from the 70s.”
While I saw the original tweets — one each for each of the five covers — I was waiting for a follow-up tweet or post on what exactly these covers are, but one never came. Like, where did these covers come from? And will there be a comic book adaptation of Quentin Tarantino‘s Inglourious Basterds? One can only hope.
But for now, all we have are these five Jack Kirby-inspired covers to drool over. Check them out here below (click for full, larger view).
Oh, speaking of Inglourious Basterds, an awesome awesome movie, it will be released on DVD and Blu-ray , and as a digital download on December 15, 2009, and is available for pre-order now [...]

Broken Lizard Says ‘Super Troopers 2′ Is Moving Forward & Brian Cox Will Be Back!
Broken Lizard became an instant legend amongst the 18-29 age range when their brilliant 2002 indie comedy Super Troopers was unleashed in 2001. Since then there have been many whispers of a possible sequel, but Broken Lizard moved on to movies like Club Dread and Beerfest — both of which continued their wacky comedy style, but never quite reached the Super Troopers plateau. It is safe to say that the team could never make a sequel and everyone would be okay with that, but you, you, and I all know we would take it in an instant!
While speaking to Movie Cultists about their brand new movie The Slammin’ Salmon, the gang was wooed into spilling some details on the possible Troopers sequel. To their surprise and to our very great joy, they shared that the movie was much further along than we were currently aware of! They confirmed that not only do they have multiple drafts of the script completed, but that they already have money in place and some cast ready and willing to return. [...]

R2-D2′s Appearance in ‘Star Trek’ Discovered
R2-D2, it is you, it is you!
Gizmodo has discovered the location of the hidden R2-D2 in JJ Abrams’ Star Trek.
Check out the cropped image here above of an R2-D2 floating in space during one of the battles, and head over to Gizmodo to check out the full hi-res image.
George Lucas’ Industrial Light & Magic did the visual effects on Star Trek, which will be released on DVD/Blu-ray tomorrow, and they oftentimes like to insert the iconic Star Wars droid into their work. (They did it in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen as well — see here.) It’s a cute little Easter Egg for us nerds [...]

Read Now: ‘The Prisoner’ Online Tie-In Graphic Novel
 |
Posted by Empress Eve | November 15th, 2009 at 11:42 pm |
Part 1 of AMC’s remake of The Prisoner, starring Jim Caviezel and Ian McKellen, aired earlier this evening, with Part 2 airing tomorrow at 8pm on AMC.
If you didn’t get a chance to watch tonight’s premiere, I hope you got to record it, because it was surprisingly good. I say surprisingly because I’m a fan of the original show and I just assumed the remake couldn’t live up to it (my general feelings on most remakes), and also because nearly every advanced review of the miniseries I’ve read was negative.
Anyhow, definitely check out the new Prisoner, and also, there’s a tie-in online graphic novel (well, really more like a motion comic) to accompany the series. Check out Book One: As the Air, Invulnerable, chapter 1 of a 10-chapter story. In Chapter 1, we’re introduced to Rebecca, who’s looking for her missing sister. Chapter 2 will be posted online immediately following Tuesday’s television finale on Tuesday, November 17 [...]

Lita Ford Talks ‘Runaways’ Movie; Meets Star Scout Taylor-Compton
Metal Queen Lita Ford broke her silence regarding the bio-pic about The Runaways, the bio-pic based on the 1970s all-girl band of the same name of which Ford was the lead guitarist.
“Most people would want to be in a movie, but I sure didn’t want anything to do with this one,” admits Ford about the film, which has the working title of The Runaways. “They’re using my name and that makes me nervous as some of the people involved have tried to destroy my career since 1980.”
The film, written and directed by Floria Sigismondi based on Runaways singer Cherie Currie’s memoirs, stars Kristen Stewart as Joan Jett, Dakota Fanning as Cherie Currie, and Scout Taylor Compton as Lita Ford, and is scheduled for theatrical release in 2010
Apparently, Ford’s apprehension about The Runaways has changed a bit now that she’s actually met the 20-year-old actress who will portray her in the movie. Compton made a special trip out to Harrah’s in Lake Tahoe, Nevada last week to see Ford perform with Queensryche and to meet the musician. (See pictures from the meeting here.) [...]

Judas Priest Frontman Releases Holiday Album
 |
Posted by Empress Eve | November 15th, 2009 at 12:48 pm |
I love metal and I love the holidays. Put them both together, and I am in all my glory.
And glory be, because Judas Priest frontman Rob Halford has just released a holiday album with his solo project Halford!
Halford III: Winter Songs is a collection of classic holiday songs given a heavy metal arrangement, like on “Oh Holy Night” and “What Child Is This?”, along with new holiday songs written and arranged by Halford (“Get Into the Spirit”).
Seriously, do I need to explain any further why this album is a must-have? I didn’t think so.
I’d say this is going on my Christmas wish list, but I can’t wait that long. I’m buy it right this minute on MP3 [...]
