Having seen "Captain EO" at Disney World eons ago, with its bursts of lightbeams and other cool I.L.M. 3-D effects, I'm TOTALLY on-board with "Ghostbusters 3-D." The Sta-Puft Marshmallow Man in 3-D would've been totally kickass, not to mention Slimer popping out of the screen!

"Gremlins," however, is another matter altogether. It's sort of insulting that they're pushing through with it without Dante, and I surmise 99.999% will be CGI. Those little puppets may have caused a myriad of on-set problems, but dammit, they STILL look good today! CG, 3-D Gremlins would just be too gimmicky and instantly dated. The only way I might warm to a third film/reboot in 3-D is if they go the horror movie route from the original script (which included the Gremlins eating all the customers in McDonalds but leaving the burgers untouched), though with the success they had marketing the original as a family film, it's doubtful that WB will do that.

CGI would ruin gremlins, well for the actual gremlins anyway. Was watching jurassic park the other day and thought to myself 'i still freaking love animatronics'.

I think Ghostbusters in 3D would KICK @SS! Can imagine the ghosts transitioning between foreground and background, with brightly charged particle beams dancing wildly across the screen as the Ghostbusters try to reel them in. To me, sounds like a movie begging to be made in 3D! A natural fit for the medium. Gremlins 3D? Not so sure. I do agree with the puppets though. Would be a shame to be stuck with a CGI Gizmo, et al. Think the creatures would lose some of their charm.
