New ‘Clash Of The Titans’ Banners & Poster

Empress Eve   |

Clash Of The Titans bannerNew banners and poster for Louis Letterier‘s Clash Of The Titans remake have been released, all of which show off the film’s new April 2, 2010 release date and 3D status.

Check out the four new banners and one new poster here below; visit UGO for the high-res versions.

The four banners show the legendary characters in action, so if you know your Greek mythology, you’ll appreciate how well these were put together. The new poster is of the Kraken sea monster in mid-roar trying to take a chomp at the Pegasus-riding Perseus.

I’ve said it with the trailers, now I’ll say it with the poster — too much Kraken! Don’t get me wrong, nothing against the Kraken, but there’s a whole new generation of moviegoers who’ve never seen the original Clash, so why reveal so much in the promo items? It almost feels like they’re trying to show fans of the original movie that they haven’t strayed too far, like, ‘Hey, look here’s the Kraken, we didn’t forget him, we’re releasing him, we got all the Kraken you need!’ And now we have ‘Look, it’s 3D Kraken!’

Warner Bros recently confirmed that their Clash Of The Titans remake would get a 3D release, despite director Louis Letterier’s previous claim although he tried, there just wasn’t enough time to make it 3D for its original March 26 release date. (At the same time WB also confirmed that the final Harry Potter films would be in 3D as well – Read Check That: ‘Clash Of The Titans’ IS Going 3D; ‘Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows’ Too). Apparently, the 3D conversion only costs $5 million to do, but meant moving the film a back a week to April 2.

The new release date moves the film out of competition with the animated 3D feature How to Train Your Dragon (which will now only get one week in the 3D screens) and caused Universal to change the release date on their Jude Law organ-repo scifi-thriller Repo Man to March 19, 2010.

Despite the Kraken-pushing and 3D mad scrambling, I’m still looking forward to the new Clash Of The Titans. WB definitely lucked out having Sam Worthington, who’s hot off of Avatar‘s success, starring as Perseus, the mortal son of Zeus. Speak of Zeus, Liam Neeson as the god of thunder? Awesome. Ralph Fiennes as his underworld sibling Hades? Brilliant. But, no more delays, please.
