Yesterday, fans of Twilight got a tiny little 10-second sneak peek of the trailer for The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, the upcoming third film in the popular vampire franchise.
The sneak peek showed a glimpse of the continuing love triangle of the human Bella (Kristen Stewart), her vampire love Edward (Robert Pattinson), and werewolf best friend Jacob (Taylor Lautner), who loves her too.
Now, the full-length trailer for Eclipse has been released; watch it right here below.
This minute and a half trailer goes beyond the love triangle, which includes Jacob making a strong point as to why Bella should be with him. It also shows the danger Bella is still in from the Volturi vampire clan as well as vicious vamp Victoria, the latter of whom is played now by Bryce Dallas Howard — this is the first glimpse we get of her.
Unlike the action-packed trailers that were released for Twilight Saga: New Moon, this one for Eclipse is more somber. I’m not sure why they chose to go that way with this, since the promise of action is probably what drew non-Twilight fans in for New Moon. Yes, I understand that the die-hard fans want to see the dramatics, but I think they could have showed the severity of the situation in the trailer without the melodrama and weepy piano score.
The story gets more interesting in Eclipse, but this trailer — in my opinion, at least — probably won’t appeal to your average non-Twilight fan.
The Twilight Saga: Eclipse arrives in theaters June 30, 2010.
