Same Old Song? Robert Rodriguez Says ‘Sin City 2’ Could Happen Soon

Sin City

No one knows exactly how many times we’ve heard talk of a Sin City 2 happening by now. Clearly directors Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller — who also created the graphic novel — want to make this movie, but the big question has always been when they would actually stand up, buckle down, and get this bad boy going full-steam ahead.

The answer to this question is still unknown, but while speaking to MTV, Rodriguez made it pretty clear that it’s all about when everyone will have the time. We know Miller has gotten into directing his own films and that he’s been working on a story for a sequel to 300; while at the same time, Rodriguez has been plenty busy with Machete, producing Predators, and surely working on his own pile of prospective films.

Not only do Miller and Rodriguez need to find a window to fit this in, but the many new or returning big name stars who will be in the movie will have to find time right along with them, of course.

Here’s what Robert had to say about waiting and how if it will ever be too late to actually do the movie.

It’s only about timing. It could happen very soon. It could happen a little later, It could happen even later. But probably sooner is better.

No, never, but I just don’t want to wait that long. I know Frank doesn’t want to wait that long.

It’s been so long since Sin City that I’ve pretty much lost all excitement for Sin City 2 at this point, and until I see it happening, I’ll remain calm about what we do hear. On the other hand, it is always nice to see that they still want to do it as soon as possible. Hopefully they’re getting sick of hearing about it and decide to just get it over with.

Or, if looking for options, why not see if Mr. Quentin Tarantino is busy and try and grab him to direct the sequel as a fun follow-up to Inglourious Basterds. That would allow Rodriguez and Miller to produce and still do whatever else they’re doing. Just a fantasy suggestion.

  1. Ugh please no QT! I loved Sin City the way RR did it, correctly. If you let Tarantino loose in Millers playground you never know what atrocities he’ll make us endure.
I’ll wait for the good version thank you.

  2. I’m so tired of Frank Miller, this coming from someone who was a huge fan of his comics work in the 80’s and early 90’s. I remember how every time Frank put pencil and ink to paper it was a thing of great violent, poetic beauty. today: Go on youtube to see Franks drunken interviews for The Spirit. Frank needs to lay off the alchohol and stop leching around hollywood actresses. dark knight strikes again was a direct punch in the gut to comics fans and his art these days is lazy. I enjoyed Hell and Back 9 years ago. I’m not sure where frank is off to now…..I’ll see Sin City but get on with it already! My interest is hanging on by a thread..
