Pin-Up Calendar Girls Show Sexy Skeletal Systems
A medical supply company kicked off a promotional campaign that offers a pin-up calendar of sexy ladies in seductive poses under an x-ray scanner.
The calendar, which is completely safe for work by most standards, features pictures for every month of the year.
The company behind the promotion, EIZO, hired German-based ad agency Butter to create the calendar for distribution to potential clients.
So basically unless you work inside of a hospital or medical specialist’s practice, you’ll have a hard time getting your hands on one [...]

Toy Story 3- ***1/2
Directed by Lee Unkrich
Starring Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Joan Cusack, Ned Beatty
Release date: June 18, 2010
It is wonderful to capture memories. We all do it one way or another. Video recorders are typically used for it, be it either for capturing celebrations, parties, talent shows, sporting events, or even sorrowful ones that cause us to be emotionally saddened. Years go by when we return to them again finding bliss and a moment out of time that is impossible to explain; an unfathomable remembrance of things past.
Toy Story 3 begins magnificently with old videos of Andy playing with his toys — a time when he kept reality at bay and possessed nothing but joy, caring very little from what was transpiring outside of his fantasy world abundantly full of train robberies and spacemen saving the day from evil. We all have to move on, and Toy Story 3 finds grievance in this stark realization and employs it throughout the movie within characters like Andy who is now going away to college, his mother struggling to deal with that, and his entire chest of toys who are facing being either shipped to the attic, donated to Sunnyside daycare, or thrown in the trash because Andy has grown up [...]

Geek Memorabilia Show Heading To Syfy
Ever wonder what happens to the props from classic sci-fi/fantasy films and television shows after they wrap production? The Syfy channel thinks you do.
Syfy has commissioned six, one-hour episodes of a new show focused on geek memorabilia, which will be done in a documentary style.
The show could end up being pretty successful, as collecting useless (and glorious) crap is roughly half of being a geek if you have the funds to support it.
I’ve already got an idea for the first episode: the sword from the Conan the Barbarian movie, which may be displayed in California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger’s office and/or owned by comic book artist Rob Liefeld [...]

Lauren Graham, Anthony Anderson Join Hayden Panettiere & Rory Culkin In ‘Scream 4′
As many of you should know by now, Scream 4 has constantly been picking up steam over the past few months, and it’s not slowing down now.
After securing main returning stars like Neve Campbell, David Arquette, and Courteney Cox Arquette, as well as original screenwriter Kevin Williamson and director Wes Craven, it was time to find and acquire some fresh blood.
This began with the casting of Emma Roberts as one of the female heroines (and likely the lead female if this does turn into a second trilogy). Right around the time that Roberts was cast, Heroes star Hayden Panettiere and Rory Culkin were rumored to be up for parts as well…eventually progressing to confirmations.
Now, according to Entertainment Weekly and a source of theirs, two more well-known names are on-board with Scream 4. The source states that Gilmore Girls and Bad Santa actress Lauren Graham is “very close” to joining, and the report indicates that Anthony Anderson is already in. [...]

Animated ‘Black Panther’ Series Releasing Soon
 |
Posted by Guy_Jen | June 19th, 2010 at 10:58 am |
Like it or not, more and more it is obvious that geek is in vogue and that will not change anytime soon. That being said the plethora of shows and films continues to grow with the announcement of a release date for an upcoming weekly animated series starring one of the Avengers’ big guns, the Black Panther.
Episode 1 of the series, titled Black Panther: Who Is The Black Panther?, will be available for download starting June 23, 2010. The 12-episode series from Marvel Knights Animation is based on the graphic novel of the same title written by Reginald Hudlin with art by the power house of talent John Romita Jr.
One of the more interesting bits of news regarding this animated series is that it will be released through iTunes, Xbox LIVE, Microsoft Zune, and PlayStation® Network. So it is becoming more and more evident that the internet is a viable medium for comic animation and motion comics. Of course this leads to the question of how well can this sell without the proper advertisement and pushing it to non comic fans. Of course comic fans will probably see ads in their comics or will read websites that release this news, but will main stream audiences even hear about this at all? Can this lead to a bigger adaptation on the big screen? [...]

Peter Berg’s ‘Battleship’ Adds ‘True Blood’ Sheriff Alexander Skarsgård
Eric Northam was a Viking in his day. Hundreds of years later, he’s a vampire sheriff, and one of the more popular characters on HBO’s hit show, True Blood.
Eric is played on the show by the massive Swedish actor, Alexander Skarsgård, son of Stellan Skarsgård, who now has himself a new job. Skarsgård has been cast in the upcoming Hasbro board game-turned feature film, Battleship.
In the movie, Skarsgård will play a naval officer and sibling to Taylor Kitsch‘s character — also a naval officer — who’s close to and looks up to his brother. If you’ll recall, Kitsch was cast in the lead role back in April after things didn’t quite work out with Jeremy Renner.
Battleship will of course deal with a naval fleet of ships, but that’s about where it ends. The movie will take a surprise route from there, seeing said naval fleet band together with different international fleets to combat an apparent army of alien invaders who seek a power source within the Earth’s oceans. Pricey Motion: Microsoft’s Kinect Will Run You $149.99
During the now-closed E3 2010 video game convention, both Microsoft and Sony showed off their motion-based gaming systems, primed and ready to try and compete with the Nintendo Wii.
Sony brought to the table their PlayStation Move, some impressive demonstrations of games it will be compatible with, and even a rundown of prices for each of the bundles that will be available. On the other side, Microsoft brought their own Project Natal, shared that it would now be called “Kinect” instead, and showed off some of the games and features that it would hold. The curious thing about Microsoft is that they seemed to be keeping the price tag their own special secret.
Now the word is out: Amazon is now accepting pre-orders for the Microsoft Kinect system, and it will run you a not-so-cool $149.99.
That’s half the price of what a decent Xbox 360 will run you, and a significant investment on something not yet proven to be worth it. [...]

Snoop Dogg Really Likes HBO’s ‘True Blood’
Iconic rapper Snoop Dogg really likes vampire drama True Blood, or at the very least, one of the show’s main characters Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin).
Evidence of Snoop’s True Blood-fanboyism can overwhelmingly be found in the music video “Oh Sookie” he produced and subsequently uploaded to YouTube to promote the show for HBO.
It is everything you’d think it would be, and probably even a little bit more.
Check out the video embedded below and then share your Vampire-Hip-Hop puns in the comment section please.
The video begins with Snoop pulling up to Merlotte’s in a tricked-out Cadillac with a personalized California license plate that reads “TRU PIMP.” He comes bearing gifts like “Tru Nutz” and proceeds to rap amongst a montage of True Blood clips and shots of Sookie look-a-like dancers [...]

E3 2010: ‘Star Wars’ Stands Tall With ‘Old Republic’ Trailer & New Kinect Game!
As usual, Star Wars made a big splash at E3 2010. And not just a big splash with one single title, but with THREE new upcoming titles that they were there to show off.
As you may have saw here before E3, a new cinematic trailer for Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II showed up. That by itself was pretty insane, but it was also just the start of a week that should have Star Wars fans drooling everywhere.
Aside from Force Unleashed, the other massive game that’s been in development at LucasArts for a long, long time is of course Star Wars: The Old Republic. We have seen a lot of goodies and gameplay for the RPG/MMO title starting at last year’s E3, but the folks from Bioware and EA reloaded and returned set to top themselves with an amazing new cinematic trailer.
Use the Schwartz to get yourselves over to the other side to see this trailer and much more as well! [...]

‘Inglourious Basterd’ Michael Fassbender To Play Magneto In ‘X-Men: First Class’
Not too long after finding out that Wanted and Atonement star James McAvoy would be taking on the younger version of Patrick Stewart’s Professor Xavier role in X-Men: First Class, words came around that Michael Fassbender might just be playing Magneto.
The delay with that casting was that the actor had to choose between Magneto — played so very well by Ian McKellen in Bryan Singer’s X-Men and X2: X-Men United — and playing one of the villains in Sony’s reboot of the Spider-Man franchise. It’s unknown which villain he might of played, but many suspect it would have been the Lizard.
According to reports, Fassbender appears to have chosen to side with X-Men. The actor has entered into negotiations to play the role, which will see him becoming the younger Magneto when he was very close with McAvoy’s Professor X character. The story will revolve around this aspect of their relationship, when their views pushed them apart, and Xavier’s development of his school for gifted mutants. [...]

E3 2010: Leonard Nimoy Stars In ‘The Terminator’ With ‘Yoostar 2′ Movie Karaoke
Leonard Nimoy may have retired from acting on us, but that’s not stopping him from doing some top-notch fake acting. If you haven’t heard of the game Yoostar, it’s basically just like karaoke…but instead of singing, you get to put yourself right in the lead roles of your favorite movies of all time.
At E3 this week, Yoostar 2 was being shown off, and stars from Star Trek old and new were there to help test it out. The game runs using Microsoft’s motion system once known as Project Natal and now known as Kinect, recording your image, placing it where the familiar star of the movie usually stands as you read your lines on the screen. After, you can go back and now watch your Oscar-winning re-performance.
To test the game, Nimoy threw on some shades and stepped in front of the TV where he became none other than Arnold Schwarzenegger in The Terminator. Nimoy read the lines from the famous “I’ll be back” scene, and then watched it played back. [...]

‘X-Men: First Class’ Finds A Beast In Benjamin Walker
The cast for Marvel Studios’ X-Men: First Class is adding another new name. It’s being reported that director Matthew Vaughn has found his Beast, and that the character will be played by Benjamin Walker.
Walker is a relatively unknown, but has been in films like Kinsey, where he played the young title character portrayed for the most part by Liam Neeson, as well as Clint Eastwood’s World War II drama, Flags of Our Fathers. He’s also making a lot of waves in a theatrical production titled Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson by the Public Theater.
One obstacle with this movie is that many do worry that these new, younger actors taking on the roles of mutants that have already been popularly-depicted in X-Men and X2 won’t be able to meet or even raise the bar. There is fair concern here, but hopefully this is a non-existent issue. When it comes to Beast we only saw him in X-Men: The Last Stand played by Kelsey Grammar, but with many despising that movie, the character is wide open for Walker to step in and make it his own. Movie Review: Jonah Hex

Jonah Hex – *
Directed by Jimmy Hayward
Starring Josh Brolin, Megan Fox, John Malkovich
Release date: June 18, 2010
The bloodlust gains infinitely as the comic book adaptation of Jonah Hex expands to its inevitable conclusion. Moral values, social codes, or respect are all tossed out the window because director Jimmy Hayward doesn’t think it necessary to shed light on things that aren’t so aggressive. Violent films work when morality and humanity are at stake and when they are emphasized and demonstrated thoroughly (see No Country for Old Men and The Proposition). In Jonah Hex all of that is obsolete, making it a picture obsessed with intolerable cruelty, single mindedness, and unfathomable new-aged weaponry. Western films made their living on respectable themes and characters that showcased value and more than a one-track mind. This neo-neo western shows extreme contempt for all of that, making the splendor of the western even more distant from the public as it already is. Younger folk have a better opportunity of beholding the exhilaration and immersing themselves deeply into the atmosphere of the Wild West when they turn on their video game consoles and insert Red Dead Redemption.
Director Hayward, whose body of work only contains the animated Horton Hears a Who, makes the first botch as he puts his film in considerable jeopardy when he tries to encompass and explain the life of Jonah Hex (Josh Brolin) in a rushed manner that is displayed in comic-book animation. But this is ill-conceived as far as plot is concerned. If this quick montage would have been shown in its fullness the entire film would have been strengthened because it shows us Hex as a man content with his life, his experiences with Indians (is this why he can talk to the dead?), and then as a man who has become derailed. The entire film is devoted to Hex, who is in a one-dimensional mode the entire time [...]

Click over now to check out the first trailer for Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole!
Legend of the Guardians is adapted from the first three books of the Guardians of Ga’Hoole series, written by Kathryn Lasky. E3 2010: ‘Fable 3′ Demo Shows Off Gameplay
 |
Posted by Merkader | June 17th, 2010 at 10:25 pm |
We’ve seen a few different trailers for Fable 3, but we haven’t seen too much gameplay footage, until now. Straight from E3 comes a 6-minute look at the demo that all the insiders got to play. One of the developers actually walks us through many of the new features of the next game in the successful franchise.
One of the new features is a new way to equip your items, instead of the menu of old, you see it all in a 3D environment. In the demo this looked visually pleasing, but cumbersome. The touch feature, where you can touch those in the environments is also featured. Another new piece is how spells are done. You now wear gauntlets on your hand for spells. Put a different spell on each hand and the spells are combined.
In Fable your actions always changed your appearance. Now in the game your actions also change the appearance of your weaponry. Enough about it from me, though, take a look below and let us know what you think in the comments. Will you be picking this game up when it comes out on October 26th? [...]

‘Monster Squad’ Remake Gets Two Writers; Franchise Possible?
Remember back in March when we found out that Paramount Pictures was remaking beloved ’80s favorite The Monster Squad and we all hoped that that would be the last we ever heard of it? It looks as if it’s not only happening, but this could just be the start.
It’s being reported that cousins Brian Gunn and Mark Gunn have been hired to write the screenplay for the movie, and that there are hopes that this could develop into a possible franchise. The Gunn cousins haven’t done a whole lot yet, but they did pen Bring it On Again, James Gunn’s (director of Slither and Brian’s brother) PG Porn, and the upcoming sequel to Journey to the Center of the Earth, which is being called Journey to the Mysterious Island.
The Monster Squad told the story of a group of kids who band together to face off against Dracula, who has brought together Wolf Man, Mummy, Gill Man (Creature from the Black Lagoon), and Frankenstein to take over the world. [...]

AMC Releases First Rick Grimes Set Photo From ‘The Walking Dead’
 |
Posted by Guy_Jen | June 17th, 2010 at 3:44 pm |
It is a good time to be a zombie fan and a Robert Kirkman fan, with AMC’s upcoming adaptation of The Waking Dead. We have already been treated to plenty of zombie photos and seen a lot of the images that show the way the make-up will be for the zombies. Well it is finally time to see how Andrew Lincoln fits into the role of Rick Grimes in his newly released set photo, which you can see here below.
Robert Kirkman definitely enjoys the pictures and even ventures to say that he is the embodiment of what he has thought about for the Grimes character for the entirety of The Walking Dead.
I really have enjoyed all of the pictures of the zombies and their look thus far. I definitely still feel that way after taking a look at Lincoln in his set photo. I think he fits fairly well for the look of Grimes [...]

E3 2010: Surprise! Brand New ‘Twisted Metal’ On The Way
In the mid ’90s, a little video game called Twisted Metal ruled the PlayStation gaming system. This game allowed you to be many different characters with many different types of ridiculous vehicles and weapons, and basically just unleash hell on each other in all-out vehicular battle. It’s basically one of the godfathers to what gamers do every single day in online multiplayer death matches, and that makes it special.
Over the years, more Twisted Metal titles were released on the PlayStation, PS2, and PSP systems but none have really stood out since 2001′s Twisted Metal: Black, leaving fans of the series really wanting something new and exciting.
Enter E3 2010 and the surprise arrival of Eat Sleep Play’s David Jaffe and Scott Campbell, as well as a certain terrifying ice cream truck.
Drive and shoot your way over to the other side to see what they’ve been working on for the brand new Twisted Metal! [...]
