Is Mike Judge Working On 30 New Episodes Of ‘Beavis And Butt-Head’?

The Movie God   |  @   |

If you were an adolescent in the 1990s, you surely remember giggling along to an episode or two of Mike Judge‘s beloved celebration of idiocy, Beavis and Butt-Head. Since the last episode aired in 1997, a loyal cult following has remained behind the show — proving just how relevant something so silly could become — leading many to wonder if and when new episodes would be made.

According to REVIEWniverse (via Collider), an anonymous source has revealed that Mike Judge is working on 30 brand new episode outlines right now. As with all “anonymous sources,” this has to be marked as a rumor. But if true, it would be very exciting for fans of the show.

The source also clarifies that there is currently no deal with MTV to actually bring back Beavis and Butt-Head, but that doesn’t mean Judge wouldn’t be getting a season’s worth of episodes prepared for production just in case. When you think about it, a revival would definitely make a lot of sense right now.

Given the existing proof in Family Guy and now Futurama that dead ‘toon series can be brought back to life and even go on to great success, why not bring back something like Beavis and Butt-Head? It already has a great fanbase, the production budget has to be incredibly low, and Judge handles almost all of the voices himself. No complications or contractual issues; if MTV and Judge come to a deal, this happens and it probably happens quickly. And seriously, what does MTV have on the air that’s better and can possibly compete with other big animated series?

Many (myself included) would tell you that if given the opportunity, they would go back in time and swap Beavis and Butt-Head with King of the Hill. That show went on for many, many more seasons, and I personally always wished it was B&B that had lived on instead. That makes even this slight hope that Mike Judge is working on 30 new episodes all the more exciting.

  2. I concur on the King of the Hill assessment — the thing that always bothered me about that show was that there was no need for it to be animated. It never took advantage of the freedom that animation provides, y’follow me? It was just another lukewarm sitcom that happened to be animated.

  3. Beavis and Butthead appeared in a promotion for Extract, perhaps that was a test?

  5. if Judge brings it back, dont go to MTV. they dont give
a damn about him, they never did. i remember back in 93 when
they were under heat because a kid burned his house down
because he heard Beavis’ chant ”FIRE! FIRE!”. after this tragedy, MTV had made an announcement regarding Judge’s show,
calling the characters ugly, stupid and non role models (i know..
they were right), But, i honestly believe he got that FOX deal
to get away from MTV, i heard they effed him over something.
i dont know what network, but defintely not MTV, theyre dying
    anyways.
