While nothing is official here yet, many whispers of Predators producer and Sin City director Robert Rodriguez being a potential name to helm the Marvel Studios film adaptation Deadpool have been floating through the air. These whispers have been denied by all involved, but now it appears there’s some truth behind them after all.
According to the LA Times’ 24 Frames blog, Rodriguez is in fact in some form of negotiations with 20th Century Fox to take the wheel on Deadpool. The movie is expected to see X-Men Origins: Wolverine star Ryan Reynolds returning to his role of the Merc with the Mouth, an ultra-sarcastic mercenary named Wade Wilson who while dying from cancer was offered a cure within the Weapon X program. While there, the procedures scarred him greatly and were considered a failure, leaving him confined to an area for failed experiments. Other prisoners of the facility had a betting ring for who would die next, and Wilson was the top bet. This ring was called the dead pool, and when Wilson suddenly healed up and escaped, he adopted the name. [...]
Comic-Con International has been very kind to Ashley Wood. Last year, Wood and wife/collaborator T.P. Louise sold the film rights for their book World War Robot to Jerry Bruckheimer. Keeping the Comic-Con streak alive, Wood has now optioned another property for a big-screen adaptation, IDW’s Lore.
The producers are trying to launch an action-adventure franchise along the lines of the Men in Black series, with a focus on mythological creatures.
Originally published in 2003 as a five-issue miniseries, the story focuses on a young man who reluctantly becomes a member of an elite secret order charged with protecting humanity from the beasts of folklore who invade our world [...]

Mr. McDuffie also goes on to say when we should expect to see it in stores [...]
For the past five years or so, Liam Neeson has been locked on to play President Abraham Lincoln for Steven Spielberg in his planned biopic, Lincoln. It’s pretty clear that Neeson is the perfect actor for the job, so all made sense and everyone was just waiting to get it going.
Now comes word via The Digital Spy that Neeson, while speaking to GMTV, is saying he won’t be playing the towering president anymore. Neeson says “I’m not actually playing Lincoln now. I was attached to it for a while, but it’s now…I’m past my sell-by date,” insinuating that he’s too old to take part anymore.
Looking at Abraham Lincoln you would think that Neeson being to old is absurd, but as The Playlist points out, Lincoln died when he was 56 and Liam currently sits at age 58. Still, the president looked a little older than he was and Neeson could probably pull it off still. [...]
