Marilyn Manson To Guest On ‘Eastbound & Down’? Hey, If Betty White Can Do It…

The Movie God   |

Eastbound & Down is one of the funniest shows on TV. What started as a six-episode one-and-done first season, is now preparing to premiere their second season due to popular demand. One of the fans of the show happens to be shock-rocker Marilyn Manson…and he wants to make a cameo.

Manson told MTV at the season 2 premiere that he has an itch to step into the shoes of Stevie, the wildly obsessive assistant to Kenny Powers (Danny McBride). While the role of Stevie is already filled by actor Steve Little, show writer/director Jody Hill was honored by the support and interest of Manson, and was quoted saying “I’d love that. He can play Stevie’s brother.” Hill continued “Honestly, I’m honored. I saw Marilyn Manson open up for Nine Inch Nails when I was in high school in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, so the fact that he’s heard of the Kenny Powers series is pretty awesome.”

The series follows Powers, a former professional baseball pitcher with a cockiness and ego that would shame any ten men collectively, and his struggles with life after baseball and a determined push to get back into the game he loves. It’s dark and edgy and not for everyone, and it’s also absolutely 100% hilarious and sometimes even strangely touching.

Other cast and crew chimed in on what they think of a Manson cameo as well. Danny McBride said “I imagine he could just cut [actor] Steve Little’s flesh off and wear it, and just kind of be him. I was going to come here dressed as Marilyn Manson but I pussied out at the last moment.” Executive producer Adam McKay stated that “I don’t want to say I took it for granted, but I gotta say the first episode of this I saw, I thought, ‘If Marilyn Manson doesn’t like this then we’ve done something wrong.’”

Whether this will actually happen or not remains to be seen, but the idea seems popular among the show’s creative team. We’ve seen what can happen when fans demand something, as has been seen in the case of Betty White a couple of times. So if you want to see Marilyn Manson grab a cameo appearance, make your voice heard.

Hell, while we’re at it, I call for Betty White to be on Eastbound & Down as well. She can and SHOULD play Stevie and his brother Marilyn Manson’s mother. Let it be done.
