See If You Can Survive The Zombies In This ‘Night Of The Living Dead’ Choose Your Own Adventure

The Movie God   |

A while back, someone made an awesome Choose Your Own Adventure mini-game based on The Twilight Saga (Read: Play Now! ‘Twilight Saga: Eclipse’ The 8-Bit Choose Your Own Adventure Game!). Basically, you just watch a short YouTube video and make a choice at the end to go to another video until your game is complete.

As fun and funny as that was, we may now have one that may top it for some. George A. Romero‘s classic 1968 zombie film, Night of the Living Dead, laid the foundation for all things zombie, and unless you haven’t noticed, it created a pop culture monster…quite fittingly. Still, the movie is part of the public domain, which means no one really owns it and anyone can have their way with it. Enter Editing the Dead, a dissection and reconstruction of the movie that allows you to choose what you’ll do next while trying to escape the hungry zombies. Unlike the Twilight game above, this uses the actual film, making it a must see/must play for anyone who loves Night of the Living Dead or zombies in general!

You can head on over to the other side now to “Start the Experience” and see how you fare. Oh, and it does help a bit if you’ve seen the movie. You don’t want to become zombie food now…do you?

The only thing that really sucks here, unfortunately, became apparent to me while writing this post. I was playing through and checking it out, but after a few decisions at the beginning they just sort of stop and your “choices” are made for you at the end of each video. This of course negates it being a real Choose Your Own Adventure…but even so, it’s worth a try if you’re into zombies.

Perhaps different choices lead you to more choices later on, but if not, let’s hope whoever made this adds a lot more options to the mix. If every video had two choices as was originally expected, this would be an instant classic.

I don’t know if it messed up for me but I was only allowed three choices through the entire thing. With that kind of limitation I would have been better off just watching the movie.
It is an interesting idea but the implementation as with many things is lacking.
