Video: 50 Disney Spoilers In 3 Minutes

With Disney‘s new animated film Tangled coming to theaters next week, the The Fine Brothers have pulled together a 3-minute video that reveals spoilers for all 50 feature-length animated Disney movies.
Watch the video here below.
While these technically are spoilers, you’ll notice a running theme throughout half of these movies, which are based on fairy tales, so I think you can guess what that theme is.
The films mentioned are ‘spoiled’ in chronological order, and the bros do it all in one take. Below is a list of the movies mentioned [...]

Daniel Day-Lewis Replaces Liam Neeson In Steven Spielberg’s Abraham Lincoln Movie

For the longest time, Liam Neeson was attached to play Abraham Lincoln in the Steven Spielberg film titled Lincoln. Back in August, however, it was revealed that Neeson had decided to step away from the movie because he felt he was a little too old and that he was “past my sell-by date” for the role. At the time the news was pretty disappointing due to how perfect Neeson felt for the part, but now a new actor has been chosen and he should be considered pretty universally adequate for the job.
According to Deadline, two-time Academy Award winner Daniel Day-Lewis has signed on to play President Lincoln in the movie. Lewis has won Oscars for 1989′s My Left Foot and more recently for his role as Daniel Plainview in There Will Be Blood. Many believe he was also robbed of the award for his work as Bill the Butcher in Martin Scorsese’s Gangs of New York. [...]

Geek Art: ‘Empire Strikes Back’ 30th Anniversary Artwork – ‘I Love You…I Know’
 |
Posted by Empress Eve | November 20th, 2010 at 10:22 am |

I love you… I know.
Does this have any significance to you?
Yes? Cool, because you’ll love this new limited edition art print currently being sold exclusively through the official Star Wars Shop.
Artist Amy Beth Christenson, of LucasArts, created this piece titled “I Love You…I Know” and it’s the ninth of twelve prints in a special monthly limited art collection to celebrate the 30th anniversary of The Empire Strikes Back.
The artwork captures the scene from Empire in the carbon-freezing chamber between Han Solo and Princess Leia as they are about to kiss, just before Han is lowered into the carbonite. In one of the greatest lines in the film, and without a doubt, one of the most memorable romantic parting words on screen, Leia finally confesses her love for Han. “I love you,” Leia tells Han. And this scoundrel’s reply? “I know.”
A wonderful aspect of this print is that not only do we get Han and Leia at the forefront, but behind the doomed lovers stand Chewbacca with the dismantled C-3PO on his back on the left, with Darth Vader and Boba Fett on the right [...]

Geek Peek: First Look At Karl Urban In New ‘Judge Dredd’

The first image of Lord of the Rings and Star Trek star Karl Urban in the upcoming reboot of Judge Dredd has shown up online.
Urban will be playing the same lead role played by Sylvester Stallone in the 1995 adaptation. But while the look of Dredd himself isn’t too different here, it’s been promised that this new movie will not be anything like that attempt, and will be completely and totally faithful to the original comic which debuted in the UK’s 2000 AD magazine.
Along with Urban, the movie also stars Olivia Thirlby (Juno, The Wackness) as Cassandra Anderson, and is currently filming in Johannesburg, South Africa.
You can head on over to the other side now to read the synopsis and check out the first image of Karl Urban as Judge Dredd now!

 |
Posted by cGt2099 | November 19th, 2010 at 9:06 pm |

BBC America has finally released the official trailer for this year’s Doctor Who Christmas Special. Entitled Doctor Who: A Christmas Carol, the trailer indicates that the storyline seems to emulate the classic Dickens tale of the same name.
Scroll down to watch the full trailer.
A Christmas Carol features Matt Smith continuing his journey as the Eleventh Doctor, along with his time-traveling companions, Karen Gillan as Amy Pond and Arthur Darvill as Rory Williams. The adventure has been penned by show runner Steven Moffat who has previously stated that this year’s special will be the most “Christmassy Christmas special ever“.
Directed by Toby Haynes, the 2010 Doctor Who Christmas Special picks up where Series 5 left off, and also features Michael Gambon (otherwise recognized as Albus Dumbledore in the Harry Potter series) who, according to the TARDIS Index File, will be playing a character named Kazran. Additionally, Katherine Jenkins joins the cast playing an as-of-yet unspecified role [...]

Trailer & Screenshots From Rockstar’s Next Great Game ‘L.A. Noire’

For those who aren’t aware of its existence yet, a new game is on the way from publisher Rockstar Games and Australian developer Team Bondi titled L.A. Noire, and so far it looks like it’s going to blow minds.
The game is very much in the same vein as acclaimed film L.A. Confidential — set in the decade prior in post World War II 1940s Los Angeles where “corruption, drugs, and jazz” reign. The city was meticulously recreated for the time period right down to billboards and ads selling actual products from back then, setting the stage for one of the biggest and most ambitious video game titles to date.
If you’d like — and it’s highly recommended that you do — you can click on over to the other side now to see the first trailer for the game, as well as a bunch of new screenshots. See for yourself why gamers are oh-so-very-excited for this one. [...]

Just in time for the holiday partying season, Neatorama’s NeatoShop is offering up a TARDIS Ice Bucket for all you Doctor Who fans.
As Neotorama so cutely points out, the ice bucket is not dimensionally transcendental [something that appears larger in the inside than the outside, e.g., the TARDIS], but apparently, it is big enough to hold lots of ice.
The TARDIS Ice Bucket, which is 5″ x 5″ x 10″ with a hinged lid top, is on sale right now for $24.95 [...]

Trailer: ‘Family Guy’ Continues Its ‘Star Wars’ Spoofs With ‘Return Of The Jedi’

Whether you love or hate Family Guy, you have to admit that their work spoofing Star Wars (with the blessing of a one George Lucas, of course) has been pretty fantastic thus far.
It’s already been stated that they would not be doing the prequel movies of the mega-franchise, so all that’s left to be done is release the third and final spoof of Return of the Jedi. The final installment is called Family Guy: It’s A Trap!, and it will be released on DVD and Blu-ray on December 21. And to help get you excited, you can get your first look at the trailer right now!
Unlike the first two chapters of this epic animated parody, characters from all of creator Seth MacFarlane‘s shows will be used, including American Dad and The Cleveland Show. You’ll catch a few of said characters making brief appearances throughout the trailer.
Use the Force to bring some tasty treats closer, then head on over to the other side to check out the trailer for Family Guy: It’s A Trap! immediately! [...]

‘Paranormal Activity 3′ Officially On The Way; Release Date Set

Just a quick note for those of you out there who love your found footage scares, yes, another installment in the Paranormal Activity story is on the way.
Original director and franchise producer, Oren Peli, has informed Dread Central that Paranormal Activity 3 is already well on its way, and that the movie will come to haunt your dreams on October 21, 2011. No indication yet on where the movie will pick up from or where it’s heading story wise.
The first film in the soon-to-be trilogy only cost an unbelievable $15,000 and went on to bring in over $190 million worldwide. The sequel, which came out last month, had a bit of a drop, costing $3 million to make and brought back over $150 million worldwide — still an incredibly significant turnaround, to say the least.
These numbers make it a zero-thought decision on whether or not to keep their little fear fest-that-could moving forward with a third movie. [...]

‘Rescue Me’ Star Denis Leary Joins Marc Webb’s ‘Spider-Man’ Reboot

Here we have yet another interesting casting announcement. According to reports, stand-up comedian and Rescue Me star Denis Leary is currently working out the dirty details to finalize his joining the cast of the upcoming Spider-Man reboot.
Leary will be playing Captain George Stacy, police officer and father to Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield) love interest Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone). At the moment, it’s still unclear how faithful to Marvel’s comic book storylines the movie will be, but it’s expected that Leary’s character will have his fair share of interactions with Spider-Man.
Leary joins the steadily growing cast that already includes Garfield (The Social Network, Never Let Me Go), Stone (Zombieland, Superbad), Rhys Ifans (Notting Hill, The Replacements), who was recently confirmed to be playing the villainous Lizard, and Martin Sheen (Apocalypse Now, The Departed) as Parker’s Uncle Ben. Sally Field has been said to be up for the role of Aunt May, but this is yet to be etched in stone. [...]

Blu-ray Review: V: The Complete First Season
 |
Posted by MK2Fac3 | November 18th, 2010 at 2:57 pm |

V: The Complete First Season
Blu-ray | DVD
(2009)
Starring Elizabeth Mitchell, Morris Chesnut, Joel Gretsch, Logan Huffman, Lourdes Benedicto, Laura Vandervoort, Morena Baccarin, Scott Wolf
Warner Bros Home Entertainment
Release date: November 2, 2010
I watched the majority of V as it aired, and honestly, a lot of what I saw didn’t blow me away. I liked what I saw for the most part, but like many at the time, I was drawn in by Lost and my attention faded as V aired directly after. A friend of mine was a huge fan of V, and ultimately made me enjoy the great parts of the show. Finally getting to sit and watch the show on Blu-ray on its own, I was far more drawn in, and I was able to enjoy the series for what it is: a fantastic, thoughtful science fiction show that digs into modern day issues while still giving an intriguing story about rebels fighting an invasion.
Based on the cult hit miniseries from the 1980s, the basic premise of V is that several parts of Earth’s skies are overcast by large spaceships as a group of alien Visitors led by Anna (Morena Baccarin) who promise “We are peace. Always.” The atmosphere that is created when they are setting up the arrival of the Visitors so eerie and almost robotic. The tone of the show at this point is that the Visitors are not necessarily to be trusted, but with the help of broadcast journalist, Chad Decker (Scott Wolf), Anna and company are able to gain the trust of the majority of the population. The conspiracy theory portion of the show starts with Erica Evans (Elizabeth Mitchell) as she teams with a group of rebels that don’t trust the group of aliens that have come to their planet [...]

First Impressions On The ‘Green Lantern’ Movie Trailer

The world got its first two-minute dose of emerald CGI this week with the debut of the full-length trailer of the upcoming Green Lantern movie, which stars Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan/Green Lantern [Check out the trailer: Watch Now: Trailer For ‘Green Lantern’ Starring Ryan Reynolds Is Here].
After seeing this first trailer, I’m sufficiently moved to give you Geeks a piece of my Oan-powered mind. My ring is fully charged.
But first, two things:
First: I have been a DC fanboy for over 30 years and Green Lantern was always one of my favorite concepts and characters, right up there with the Legion of Super-Heroes and Superman himself. Seeing this footage, as good or as bad as it is, is a dream come true for me, so there will likely be some positive bias in this article no matter how hard I try. Fair warning.
Second: Of course there are spoilers in this post, so don’t read if you don’t want to lose the element of surprise [...]
