Must Watch! Trailer For Jon Favreau’s ‘Cowboys & Aliens’ Has Arrived

The Movie God   |

As promised by the countdown featured in the recent reveal of a brand new poster promoting director Jon Favreau‘s graphic novel adaptation of Cowboys & Aliens (Read: New ‘Cowboys & Aliens’ Poster Released; Let The Trailer Countdown Begin!), the very first trailer for the movie has officially arrived!

Just the premise of the movie — not to mention its insanely exciting collection of cast, writers, director, and producers — was enough to have most people buzzing with anticipation. Now, with our first real look at the movie here waiting for you (do you hear it? It’s calling your name!), we can really get our child-like giddiness revved up to maximum power.

The movie stars Daniel Craig, Harrison Ford, Olivia Wilde, Sam Rockwell, Adam Beach, and Paul Dano, and is written by Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci, and Damon Lindelof.

Click on over to the other side now to read the full synopsis and, of course, to watch the first trailer for Cowboys & Aliens! [...]

Return of the Dapper Men

Return of the Dapper Men
Hardcover
Written By Jim McCann
Art By Janet Lee
Archaia Comics
Release date: November 17, 2010

Welcome to the world of Anorev, a land in which time actually literally stands still and there is no sense of past or future. There is also a sense of nothing really having a purpose. The land of Anorev consists of only children and robots. The children choose to live underground while the robots choose to live above ground. Then one day, 314 identical dapper looking men fall from the sky.

The story follows the characters of Ayden and Zoe. Ayden is a human boy who chooses to live amongst the robots. He shares a friendship with Zoe, a robot, who herself is special. With the arrival of the Dapper Man, Ayden and Zoe are lead in a direction to discover their destiny.

I’m a fan of stories such as The Wizard of Oz, Alice in Wonderland, and Peter Pan. When Return of the Dapper Men was announced, I was definitely interested in reading it. The premise of the book was very intriguing as well as the refreshing look of the art. Return of the Dapper Men can be described as one of many classic fairytales re-written for a new generation [...]

‘Doctor Who’ Christmas Special To Air In The US On Christmas Day

cGt2099   |

Doctor Who

BBC America has announced via Twitter the news that American Doctor Who fans have been waiting to hear: Yes, we will be getting the Doctor Who Christmas Special, and it will be broadcast on December 25!

The Christmas Special, which is entitled A Christmas Carol, is written by show runner Steven Moffat and directed by Toby Haynes. As expected, Matt Smith will be starring as the Eleventh Doctor, and Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill will be reprising their roles as Amy Pond and Rory Williams (Mr. Pond!) respectively.

Interestingly, this will be the first time in Who history that Doctor Who Christmas Special has aired in both the UK and the USA on the same day. When interviewed previously about what fans can expect with A Christmas Carol, Steven Moffat remarked that, “We’re going for broke with this one. It’s all your favorite Christmas movies at once, in an hour, with monsters and the Doctor and a honeymoon and – oh, you’ll see.” He has also been quoted as saying that this one will be the “Christmassy Christmas special ever.” [...]

Red Band Trailer For Danny McBride & James Franco Adult Fantasy ‘Your Highness’

The Movie God   |

Ladies and gentlemen, the vulgar and hilarious adult-aimed fantasy movie you’ve all been (probably) waiting for has arrived.

The movie is called Your Highness, and it’s a fantasy with all the swords and magic and mythical creatures you would expect. What you might not so much expect is that the movie is directed by David Gordon Green (Pineapple Express, Eastbound & Down), and mixes a whole lot of comedy, swearing, sex, and drug use into the fantasy pot.

To show off a bit of the naughty elements of the movie, a new red band trailer has been released for our enjoyment. And yes, the swearing does feel a little awkward given the setting of the movie. That said, Your Higness looks like it could be a lot of fun and a crazy new and unique spin on the fantasy genre.

As always, be sure to head on over to the other side to read a synopsis and watch the new red band trailer. And obviously, this trailer is NSFW and you should approach with caution! [...]

No ‘The Walking Dead’ Season 2 Until October 2011?

Tom Cheredar   |

Zombie Walker

While the ratings indicate cable television viewers all around the globe love The Walking Dead [READ: ‘The Walking Dead’ Premiere Draws Huge Ratings], AMC only ordered six episodes for the first season — meaning last week’s “Tell It To The Frogs” marked the official halfway point.

The good news is AMC has already announced that the show is coming back for a full 13-episode second season. The bad news, unfortunately, is that fans may have to wait until late October 2011, which would mark it nearly a full year since the Halloween debut of the show.

Why so long of a wait? [...]

Warner Brothers Reaches Out To Robert Zemeckis For ‘Wizard Of Oz’ Remake

The Movie God   |

There’s been plenty of talks of L. Frank Baum‘s classic 1900 tale, The Wizard of Oz, getting a few new movie adaptations.

The majority of the news we’ve heard comes from Walt Disney’s new spin on the original story, Oz: The Great and Powerful, that’s now being developed and directed by Sam Raimi with hopes of bringing in Robert Downey Jr. for the lead role of the Wizard.

Today, however, brings news from another one of the Oz films in the works. It’s being reported that Warner Brothers is now in negotiations with Robert Zemeckis to direct their version of the tale. And what will their version of the tale be? Well, it looks like it will be something familiar to all of us. Instead of re-adapting Baum’s book to avoid stepping on the toes of the classic 1939 film that everyone knows and loves, Warner Bros. is planning to use the actual screenplay from the ’39 film for this movie. Watch Now: Trailer For ‘Green Lantern’ Starring Ryan Reynolds Is Here

The Movie God   |

Well, if you love trailers, today is the day for you. Many highly anticipated titles are showing off how they look, and the biggest of them all might just be Green Lantern.

A sneak peek at the trailer was revealed recently, but now you can see the whole thing. And judging by how it looks, you get the feeling people are either going to be very excited for the DC Comics adaptation, or be pretty underwhelmed. It will all really depend upon how you feel about computerized enhancements.

The movie stars Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan, a pilot who discovers an alien crash site and is given the all-powerful ring, making him a member of the Green Lanterns. The trailer isn’t shy about showing off the world they’ve created, as well as the many Green Lanterns we’ll see, a brief peek at Sinestro (Mark Strong), and solid look at Dr. Hector Hammond (Peter Sarsgaard).

Teaser Trailer For Pixar Animation’s ‘Cars 2′ Is Online

The Movie God   |

Last month, a very brief logo reveal trailer showed up for Walt Disney Pictures and Pixar Animation’s sequel, Cars 2. For fans of the first movie and those looking forward to the sequel, it was nice to see just a little something, but let’s be honest here, actual trailers are always more exciting.

The first teaser trailer for Cars 2 is now here to be seen via Yahoo! Movies, and while it too is fairly short, it does show us a lot more and offers a better idea of where the follow-up to 2006′s Cars will go.

This time around, Lightning McQueen (Owen Wilson) is off to compete in a race to determine the fastest car on the planet, but the movie sounds like it will focus on perhaps the most popular character from the original, Mater (Larry the Cable Guy), who finds himself caught up in a very James Bond-like adventure.

You can head over to the other side now to read a full synopsis of the movie and check out the teaser trailer for yourself! [...]

The digital version includes all 20 songs from the album in MP3 format, along with a digital download of the booklet (be sure to buy from the page with the booklet, which is linked above; there’s a separate page for some reason without the booklet, but it’s the same price right now).

TV Review: Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes

Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes
Featuring the voices of Alex Desert, Phil Lamarr, Brian Bloom
Disney XD
Wednesday Nights
Release Date: October 20, 2010

Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes is Marvel’s second crack at the premier superhero team in the animation world. The first series, Avengers: United They Stand, was an honest attempt to make the concept work but that failed quickly, mostly due to the lack of presence from the more popular Avengers. Now, with the Avengers movie just around the corner, Marvel is dead set to make a cartoon worthy of the proposed blockbuster film.

The premise of the series harks back to the original concept of the comic book series. When a threat of epic proportions rears its ugly head, only the Avengers can save the day. In the original comic book, the threat was Thor’s evil brother Loki but in the cartoon, it is the breakout of various super-villains.

It seems an unknown individual has disassembled world police SHIELD’s securities systems and caused their systems to crash. As a result, four super prisons went offline allowing all sorts of villains to escape. Now, it is up Earth’s Mightiest Heroes to capture them all back [...]

Release date: October 26, 2010

The year 1968 was quite a time for science-fiction. On television the crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise was in the midst of a five-year adventure traveling to strange new worlds under the command of Captain James Tiberius Kirk. Meanwhile on movie screens around the world Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer was launching a bold new vision of the future of its very own with Stanley Kubrick’s long-in-the-works outerspace epic 2001: A Space Odyssey, an adaptation of Arthur C. Clarke‘s short story “The Sentinel.” What Star Trek and 2001 represented at a time when the country was neck deep in the bloody apocalypse of Vietnam was a vision of an optimistic future where mankind could sail an endless ocean of stars to places unknown without having to face the threat of flesh-eating monsters on every uncharted world. Some would call such a notion naïve and childish, but both Trek and 2001 made their respective impact on audiences and critics and would go on to become two of the most influential sci-fi entertainments in the history of their mediums.

The same year, MGM also released The Green Slime. Okay then [...]

A Christmas Carol
DVD | Blu-ray | 3D Blu-ray
Directed by Robert Zemeckis
Starring Jim Carrey, Gary Oldman, Colin Firth
Walt Disney Pictures Home Entertainment
Release date: November 16, 2010

Ever since 2004′s The Polar Express, filmmaker Robert Zemeckis has been obsessed with motion-capture performance and has been at the forefront of its technology. With his hand so firmly planted in the medium, it’s no surprise that his last few films have employed motion-capture animation, including his latest, Disney’s A Christmas Carol.

I’ll admit, with each film the animation does gets better. Beowulf (2007) trumped The Polar Express, and now A Christmas Carol tops Beowulf. But, I have to ask, how many more classic stories must Zemeckis run through the mo-cap mill before he gives it a rest?

I don’t mean to sound harsh. Like I said, the technology is improving and I think non-human characters are rendered wonderfully with motion capture, for the most part. I just wish Zemeckis would maybe do an original script, like James Cameron did with Avatar, and give adaptations of classic novels a break for a while [...]

Guillermo Del Toro & ‘Battlestar Galactica’ Co-Creator David Eick To Unite For ‘Incredible Hulk’ TV Show

The Movie God   |

If the initial news that ABC Studios and Marvel TV were developing a new live-action television series based on the comic book superhero, The Incredible Hulk, wasn’t enough to have you jumping up and down with excitements, well…this just might help.

Deadline is reporting that visual mastermind Guillermo del Toro and David Eick, who helped create, develop, write, and produce Battlestar Galactica with Ronald D. Moore, are joining creative forces to help bring this new Incredible Hulk incarnation to life.

The duo will work together to craft the perfect pilot storyline, which Eick will write the script for and del Toro might just direct…if his ridiculous schedule allows him to, of course. Del Toro will also oversee the design of the Hulk himself, and how they’ll take previous versions of the character and utilize them in creating their own vision of the massive, green hero. Even better, word is that the Hulk will not be all CGI as we’re used to seeing in movies these days. Instead, they’ll use a combination of prosthetics, CGI, and puppetry to attempt to deliver the ultimate new visual embodiment of this intimidating force. [...]

Watch Now: Aliens Cause A Ruckus In New ‘Battle: Los Angeles’ Trailer

The Movie God   |

One of the movies that was relatively unknown but grabbed a lot of attention at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con 2010 was director Jonathan Liebesman‘s (Darkness Falls, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning) alien invasion movie, Battle: Los Angeles.

The movie is supposedly presented in real-time, following a team of Marines as they enter into a zone of Los Angeles that is under attack by aliens. It’s been compared to movies like Independence Day and District 9 mixed with a lot of Black Hawk Down. It stars Aaron Eckhart (Thank You For Smoking, The Dark Knight), Michelle Rodriguez (Avatar, Machete), Bridget Moynahan (i, Robot, Lord of War), Michael Pena (Crash, Observe and Report), and Ne-Yo (Stomp the Yard, Red Tails).

You can make your way down below now to read the short synopsis for the movie and take a peek at the new trailer. It certainly has a lot of potential, but when it comes to alien invasions they’ll really have to wow us. [...]

Mike White Confirmed As New Director Of ‘Pride And Prejudice And Zombies’

The Movie God   |

Lionsgate has selected Mike White to direct their adaptation of Seth Grahame-Smith‘s Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, an adaptation in itself of Jane Austen’s classic, Pride and Prejudice.

Not too long ago it was reported that original director, David O. Russell, had decided to step away from the project, which was followed by the exit of star Natalie Portman — both due to scheduling conflicts. And while Portman will remain on-board as a producer, Russell jumped over to a video game adaptation of the hit title, Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune for Sony Pictures.

After that, two top contenders to replace Russell in the director’s chair emerged: Neil Marshall and Mike White. Marshall has a lot of experience having directed titles like The Descent, Doomsday, and Centurion, and was clearly the favorite for the job. White was something of an underdog, on the other hand, having only directed one feature, Year of the Dog, and typically being associated with comedy. But alas, White showed something to Lionsgate that they liked, and the underdog has prevailed as the victor. [...]

Teaser Poster For ‘Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides’ Hits Early

The Movie God   |

Earlier today, mega-producer Jerry Bruckheimer shared an early gift on Twitter: a new teaser poster for Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.

The movie, which is the fourth in the juggernaut Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, is set for release on May 20, 2011. It reunites Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) and Captain Hector Barbossa (Geoffrey Rush) as they attempt to find the fabled Fountain of Youth that was teased at the end of Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End.

They’ll be joined by newcomer Penelope Cruz, who plays a woman from Sparrow’s past who might just be trying to use him to get to the Fountain. Eventually she forces him onto the Queen Anne’s Revenge, a ship Captained by the infamous Blackbeard (Ian McShane), putting Sparrow yet again into a tricky and dangerous situation.
