Empress Eve   |

Doctor Who: A Christmas CarolIt hasn’t even aired on television yet, but BBC has announced that Doctor Who: A Christmas Carol will be released on DVD and Blu-ray on February 15, 2011.

In this tale, inspired by the Charles Dickens holiday classic, Matt Smith returns as the 11th Doctor with Karen Gillan as his companion along with special guest stars Michael Gambon (Harry Potter) and opera diva Katherine Jenkins.

The DVD and Blu-ray will include bonus features such as the behind-the-scenes feature Doctor Who Confidential and the live concert, Doctor Who at the Proms 2010, featuring stars Smith, Gillan and Arthur Darvill as hosts.

Synopsis:
A Christmas Carol follows newlyweds Amy and Rory (Darvill) as they are trapped on a crashing space liner. The only way The Doctor can rescue them is to save the soul of a lonely old miser, Kazran Sardick (Gambon). But is Sardick, the richest man in Sardicktown, beyond redemption? And what is lurking in the fogs of Christmas Eve?

Bonus Features:
· Doctor Who Confidential - An inside look at Doctor Who: A Christmas Carol
· Doctor Who at the Proms 2010 – Premieres in the U.S. Christmas Day at 1:00pm ET on BBC AMERICA. The concert, hosted by stars Smith, Gillan and Darvill, was filmed at the world renowned Royal Albert Hall during the BBC’s annual Proms concert series and features appearances from the Weeping Angels, Daleks and the TARDIS. The BBC National Orchestra of Wales, who record the soundtrack for the series, present a selection of intergalactic music – including Murray Gold’s music from the TV show – plus a selection of classical favorites.
