‘Tron: Legacy’ Heats Up With Playboy Tribute Pictorial (NSFW)

The Movie God   |

Fanboys (and some girls) everywhere, your fantasies have now become a reality.

Iconic adult magazine, Playboy, has a new pictorial in their Cyber Club called “Game On.” The spread is completely Tron themed, and acts as a tribute to the movie along with its brand new sequel, Tron: Legacy. The shoot mixes beautiful women with light cycles, body paint suits, and all the neon your little hearts can take.

Tron: Legacy comes out this Friday the 17th, and is the sequel to 1982′s Tron. The sequel follows Sam Flynn (Garrett Hedlund), the son of Kevin Flynn (Jeff Bridges), as he seeks to find his father, who has been missing for over two decades.

Now, clearly this is Playboy and if you want to check out a glimpse of these bad boys, you must do so being fully aware that these are completely NSFW. That said, the images are more artistic and geek-hot than anything dirty, so if you’re of an open mind, go forth and enjoy! [...]

2010 Spike TV Video Game Awards: Who Won?

Merkader   |

Spike TV’s Video Game Awards were this weekend. The big winner overall, taking home many awards including Game of the Year, was Rockstar Games’ Red Dead Redemption. Now Red Dead was a good game, don’t get me wrong, but game of the year? It would probably make my top five, but definitely not my number one.

Also causing me to make a confused face was the Most Anticipated Game winner, Portal 2. Really? Portal 2 is the most anticipated game coming out? Not Gears of War 3 or Mass Effect 3 or Deus Ex: Human Evolution? All of which I’m looking forward to infinitely more than Portal 2. Oh and speaking of infinite, what about BioShock Infinite? I know it doesn’t come out for a while but that should win most anticipated until it does.

Making me smile however was an award going to the Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game. Check the full list below and see if you agree with the winners. What was your game of the year? Mine could quite possible be Halo: Reach, but I’ll have to think it over. [...]

‘Yogi Bear’ Looks To Sneak Into Awards Contention With Violent Alternate Ending

The Movie God   |

Alternate endings are one or more endings to a movie that were passed over for the closing moments everyone eventually sees. Sometimes these alternates are horrible, but many times there are people who actually prefer the cut endings to the used ones.

Running with that thought, someone decided to make their own alternate ending for a movie very few (if any at all) people are excited about seeing. The movie is Yogi Bear, Warner Brothers’ animated/live-action hybrid adaptation of the beloved cartoon character, which features the voices of Dan Aykroyd as Yogi and Justin Timberlake as his sidekick Boo-Boo.

Instead of using the goofy, silly, and kid-aimed humor we saw in the first trailer for Yogi Bear, it was decided to take things in a slightly more dramatic direction. Using inspiration from Andrew Dominik’s The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, the alternate ending presents us with a tense situation in which there’s a $5,000 reward on the head of Yogi, and Boo-Boo is tempted.

Continue on over to the other side to check out this alternate ending for Yogi Bear! [...]

Rock Legend Alice Cooper To Be Inducted Into Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame

cGt2099   |

Alice Cooper

Industry insiders are reporting that rock and metal legend Alice Cooper will finally be inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame on March 14, 2011 at its 26th yearly induction ceremony.

Alice Cooper began as the lead singer and frontman of the band of the same name with the release of their debut album, Pretties For You, in 1969. Cooper launched his solo career in 1975 with the release of the concept album, Welcome To My Nightmare, an epic recording that was produced by the brilliant Bob Ezrin.

Cooper established himself firmly in the era of shock rock and early glam metal — his career spanning beyond 30 years, and releasing songs such as School’s Out, Poison, Hey Stoopid, and Brutal Planet. He is known for his concept albums, and theatrical live performance that featured the “execution of Alice Cooper” every night — usually portrayed as death by guillotine. He’s left such an impact on the music world and would eventually become a massive influence on almost all sub-genre of metal [...]

Hoist The Colors: ‘Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides’ Trailer Is Here!

The Movie God   |

Another day, another big trailer for a highly anticipated upcoming movie.

Today we have for you the teaser trailer for the much-buzzed Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. The movie is the fourth installment in Disney’s mammoth Pirates of the Caribbean franchise starring Johnny Depp as the beloved Captain Jack Sparrow.

Not much needs to be said, really. You’ve either stopped reading by now or you’ve already sprinted off to see the trailer! And speaking of the trailer, everything is looking pretty solid so far. There’s definitely a Pirates of the Caribbean movie on the way, but it also looks like it might be toning down the fantasy elements just a bit and embracing the human elements. That’s not to say fantasy won’t be a huge part of the movie though; as you’ll see, all of the promised mermaids and zombies and Fountain of Youth fun is accounted for.

Be sure to click on over to the other side to check out the trailer for Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides! [...]

Metal Gods Judas Priest have announced that they are calling it day, stating that their upcoming world tour will be their last. The final Judas Priest tour has been named The Farewell EPITAPH World Tour, and the band is planning to be on the road through 2011 to play their final shows for fans.

Judas Priest is regarded as a key cornerstone in the history of heavy metal, and along with Black Sabbath, are considered to be one of the major influences to countless metal bands. Since that time, the band’s career has spanned over 40 years, seeing the release and performance of songs such as “Diamonds And Rust,” “Breaking The Law,” Painkiller, and “Living After Midnight.”

‘Thor: God of Thunder’ Video Game Trailer

Merkader   |

With each new big Marvel movie, there is a game based on that movie, and it looks like the Marvel’s Thor will be no different. The video game Thor: God of Thunder will be released on May 3, 2010 Now both of the games based on the Iron Man movies looked great, but they played terribly. Looking at this trailer, the Thor game does not seem to follow that pattern. The look of the game is not great, though.

Take a look at the trailer below, which debuted this weekend at Spike TV’s Video Game Awards. Or even look at the picture above, graphically it looks a generation behind. The game appears to be a hack and slash type game, which could really draw Thor fans in. Who wouldn’t want to beat the crap out of things with Thor’s hammer? Even if you don’t look great while doing it [...]

‘Uncharted 3′ First Trailer and Release Date

Uncharted 3

The follow up to the award-winning Uncharted 2: Drake’s Fortune has been announced. Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception will be released on October 1, 2011 and will feature Nathan Drake on another adventure.

Watch the first trailer here below, which debuted this weekend at Spike TV’s Video Game Awards.

It’s been a big year for the Uncharted franchise, despite not having a new game out this year. A movie is being made of the series. After a very public campaign by Nathan Fillion to play Nathan Drake, the role ultimately went to Mark Wahlberg.

Now with this new game the series looks unstoppable. Check out the trailer, it looks just as good as it predecessor. The Uncharted series is a Playstation Exclusive [...]

Cinematic Trailer For ‘Batman: Arkham City’ Released

The Movie God   |

As you may have been able to tell, a lot of fantastic premiers were delivered at the 2010 Spike TV Video Game Awards.

Adding to that list, the first cinematic trailer for Batman: Arkham City was debuted to excited fans of its predecessor, Batman: Arkham Asylum.

All of these world premiere trailers are of the cinematic variety, which can be bittersweet. Fans want to see what the actual gameplay looks like, naturally, but a really well-done cinematic can really do a great job building anticipation, and Batman really delivered in theirs.

The trailer shows off some traditional Batman action, doing his stealthy thing while those in pursuit of him are taken by surprise. It also introduces a new villain, a one Doctor Hugo Strange, who sounds like he might be voiced by Christopher Lee…though I’m not 100% sure.

Must Watch: ‘Mass Effect 3′ Announcement Trailer!

The Movie God   |

Another exciting announcement made at Spike TV’s Video Game Awards was the confirmation of BioWare’s Mass Effect 3, which came in the form of an announcement trailer.

Unlike The Elder Scrolls V, everyone has known from the star that Mass Effect would be a trilogy much in the same vein as Star Wars, so seeing this was no big shock. However, it was set up nicely as being that next big thing that BioWare was working on and many wondered if it would be a unique title, so there’s still a bit of excitement in seeing it with your own eyes.

The trailer is brief but exciting, as we’ve grown to expect from these games. It sets up what curiously looks like a storyline that will (at least partially) take place on our very own Earth.

‘The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim’ Announced By Bethesda With Preview & Release Date!

The Movie God   |

The words many gamers have been begging to hear since 2006 are finally here: the next chapter in The Elder Scrolls series is finally coming!

Last night at Spike TV’s Video Game Awards, Bethesda Softworks’ Todd Howard made an appearance to announce the game that the studio has been working on in secrecy for quite a while now. It was a sure bet that the game would either be a follow-up to ’06′s The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, or a brand new original title. And though an original game from Bethesda would be exciting, nothing could top the confirmation of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.

Not only was Skyrim finally confirmed after four years of waiting, but a brief preview trailer complete with the game’s release date was also shown, making up for all the impatient waiting we’ve been doing. Thankfully, the release date isn’t all that far away either, meaning we can officially flip out about this game now!

Dog Adoption Fair Kicks Off ‘Grinchmas’ At Universal Studios Hollywood

Empress Eve   |

Universal Studios Hollywood Grinchmas

This weekend marked the beginning of Grinchmas at Universal Studios Hollywood, the annual holiday event hosted by The Grinch and his sidekick Max the Dog from Dr. Seuss’ classic holiday tale How The Grinch Stole Christmas. To kick off the event, the California theme park is partnering with the Amanda Foundation and the Los Angeles Department of Animal Services to host the Max to the Rescue: Whoville’s Have A Heart Pet Adoption Fair happening today, Sunday December 12, 2010, from noon to 4PM in an area located near the theme park’s main entrance.

Max the Dog will be there to greet the animal shelter dogs and potential new pet owners. “Max” is actually Dusty, Dexter, Buster, and Scrapper, former shelter dogs, who were “discovered” by trainers who felt their playfulness, intelligence and “look” who perfect for the the Grinchmas celebration, as well as for TV and film productions.

According to USH, during Grinchmas, the four Max dogs perform for 30-minutes at a time, then enjoy a leisurely hour and half break, all the while interacting with their trainers. The rest of their time is spent in dog runs and in the company of other canine friends [...]

Geek Gear: Doctor Who T-Shirt ‘Count the Shadows’

Empress Eve   |

Doctor Who - Count The Shadows

The $9 t-shirt deal of the day over at Teefury is a Doctor Who-inspired shirt called, “Count the Shadows” by artist Jordan M. Dalton, aka dangerpinsx.

The sale at Teefury began at midnight EST (Sunday, December 12, 2010) and will continue for 24 hours from then, and once it’s over, it’s gone forever.

The t-shirt design is inspired by the Season 4 Doctor Who episode “Silence in the Library” and its second part “Forest of the Dead” where the Doctor encounters archaeologist River Song and her team of explorers. The shirt has The Library background from those episodes with the banner reading “Vashta Nerada,” the name of the monsters who are in the shadows, which is why there’s also the warning at the bottom, “Count The Shadows.” At the center shirt is one of the explorers after they’ve been attacked by the Vashta Nerada.

The limited-edition t-shirt is available in Men’s (including 2X) and Women’s sizes, and both are in black [...]
