Share Your Thoughts: Are These Videos UFO Proof Or ‘Battle: Los Angeles’ Viral Marketing?

With just a quick search, anyone can find hundreds of decent videos claiming to show off proof of extraterrestrial crafts flying, hovering, and disappearing from Earth’s own skies.
A new video recently hit the web from Jerusalem where two men visiting Mount Zion noticed a strange ball of light in the night sky. The ball then slowly moves downward to hover directly over the Temple Mount, not all that far from the ground at all. Suddenly, a blast of light explodes, and the ball of light shoots up into the sky as if startled. After disappearing into the darkness, it then becomes clear that multiple red lights are floating high above.
So do we have some solid proof of alien visitors here, or are those crafty movie marketing teams up to their tricks again? Click on over to the other side to see some videos of this event and share your thoughts in the comments! [...]

Oscar Winning Composer John Barry Dies At Age 77
Hollywood has lost another great; legendary film composer John Barry has passed away at the age of 77. His family confirmed that Barry died Sunday in New York after suffering a heart attack.
Barry crafted many brilliant musical scores over the years, but none perhaps more memorable than his contributions to the world of James Bond. The composer worked on eleven different Bond movies, and there’s no denying that the music he brought to the franchise will live on for eternity.
Apart from his highly recognized work with James Bond, Barry had many other credits to his name — over 100 movies, to be more specific. Over the course of his career he was nominated for seven Academy Awards, won five of them for his work on movies like Born Free, The Lion in Winter, Out of Africa, and Dances With Wolves.
You can find a musical tribute to the great John Barry by continuing on below. [...]

Former Nirvana Members Reunite On Upcoming Foo Fighters Album
 |
Posted by cGt2099 | January 31st, 2011 at 2:05 pm |
Butch Vig, best known as the producer of Nirvana‘s Nevermind album and drummer of the band Garbage, recently discussed that he reunited ex-Nirvana members Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic for a track on an upcoming Foo Fighters album. The track is titled “I Should Have Known,” and will be featured on the next album from Grohl’s band.
The new song sees Novoselic contribute both bass guitar and accordion (!!) to the track. Recording for the as-of-yet untitled album was completed at the beginning of this year, and is being held for a release during April.
Grohl and Novoselic first worked together in the band Nirvana, led by frontman Kurt Cobain. Their breakthrough album was Nevermind, released in 1991, and produced by Butch Vig. The release of the album would usher in a new attitude, sound, and feel for the hard rock/metal and punk community that would eventually be labeled as the “Grunge” genre by the media. During their career, Nirvana released songs such as “About a Girl,” “Smells like Teen Spirit,” and “All Apologies.” [...]

An Oscar Nominations Observation: Did ‘The Social Network’ Doom Itself?
 |
Posted by Three-D | January 31st, 2011 at 11:22 am |

The Social Network over the past couple months has been unabashedly accepting every award and congratulatory remark that has been sent its way. It seemed the film was determined to be held in eminence amongst other films that are in awards contention this year. Since the film opened in early October it has been on an irrepressible ascent, exceeding every other film in critical acclaim (according to the online site Metacritic it scored an impressive 95).
Satisfaction endured on the film’s behalf all the way up until this past Tuesday morning, where David Fincher’s Facebook film tallied a total of 8 Oscar nominations. You may say such a particular outing is absolutely superb. But taking into consideration the mentality of students attending Harvard University (like those in The Social Network), 8 is somewhat of a disappointment when you can have many more. Such students anticipate nothing but the best. Given the multitude of accolades The Social Network received, a measly 8 nominations simply cannot be adequately embraced. [...]

Meet Henry Cavill – The New Superman!

With the official announcement earlier today that Zack Snyder and his team at Warner Brothers have chosen actor Henry Cavill as the lead in their Superman reboot (read Man Of Steel Picked For Zack Snyder’s ‘Superman’ Reboot), it’s time we get acquainted with the actor that will be The Man of Steel.
According to Heat Vision, the 27-year-old actor beat out Watchmen’s Matthew Goode for the Superman role. He also reportedly won out against White Collar’s Matthew Bomer, Social Network’s Armie Hammer, True Blood’s Joe Manganiello, and The Rite’s Colin O’Donaghue.
Cavill doesn’t have a very lengthy resume, appearing in his first feature role in 2001 and the following year in The Count of Monte Cristo as Albert Mondego. His later films were Tristan + Isolde, the horror-thriller Blood Creek, and a small role in Stardust. He’s best known for his work in the HBO series The Tudors as Charles Brandon. It’s probably this role, along with his screen test, that garnered him the coveted role of Superman. [...]

Man Of Steel Picked For Zack Snyder’s ‘Superman’ Reboot
 |
Posted by MK2Fac3 | January 30th, 2011 at 2:08 pm |

The Man of Steel has been found for the upcoming Zack Snyder, Christopher Nolan, and David Goyer-headed Superman reboot, and the Earth’s mightiest protector is none other than Henry Cavill (Stardust, The Tudors).
Though the British actor has been heavily rumored for the role for quite some time, the confirmation comes as a surprise to a lot of fans, mainly because of his physicality and his lack of American blood. I, for one, believe that if the actor is the best for the role, then that is all that matters.
Director Zack Snyder doesn’t share these fans’ fears, as he gave his thoughts in the official announcement from Warner Brothers [...]

How One Video Game Allows Disabled Man To Be The Professional Athlete He Dreams Of Being

Usually when you’re hearing a story involving video games, it’s someone blaming them for crimes and senseless violence or complaining that their kids shouldn’t be playing such filth (instead of actually trying to be a parent and refusing to give them access to the more mature titles, of course).
Put all of that out of your mind; today we have a wonderful story about video games that will warm your heart and make you smile.
25-year-old Hans Smith is a baseball and St. Louis Cardinals super-fan. He also suffers from cerebral palsy. But instead of letting that keep him from doing the things he loves and giving up on life, he’s making the best of it and finding ways to thrive even with the restrictions he battles every day of his life.
Smith knows he can never even throw a baseball, let alone be a professional ballplayer like he would love to do, which is why he fell in love with baseball video games. [...]

Geek Gear: Beetlejuice Shirt ‘Bio-Exorcist’

The t-shirt deal of the day over at RIPT Apparel is a Beetlejuice-inspired shirt called “Bio-Exorcist.”
The tee, by artist Andy Hunt, went on sale at RIPT today, Sunday, January 30, 2011, at midnight CST, and will continue for 24 hours from then, and once it’s over, it will not be sold on the site anymore.
The design is based on Tim Burton’s film Beetlejuice and the Betelgeuse character, a “bio-exorcist” who can be summoned by saying his name three times (hence why the name is listed three times along with the 24-hour toll-free service number). [...]
