Must Watch: Haunting Trailer For Zombie Video Game ‘Dead Island’ Will Leave You Speechless

The Movie God   |

A new video game trailer has hit the web, and it has a lot of people buzzing.

The trailer is for a game called Dead Island, and it’s about zombies. It’s developed by Techland, the team behind two personal favorites of mine: Call of Juarez and Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood. The game has been in development for multiple years now, but with the release of this new trailer, Dead Island is officially on the radars of gamers everywhere.

Every once in a while a trailer really stands out for one reason or another, and this is one of those times. It’s a cinematic, so no actual gameplay is shown, but it’s presented in an almost Memento-esque short story format. It also hits an extremely dark point that very few others would have the nerves to showcase, and it’s this point that is all but guaranteed to strike an emotional chord with you the viewer.

You can see the new cinematic trailer for Dead Island by heading below now. You can also find a few new screenshots from the game as well.

Few details are known so far, but what we do know is that the game takes place on a tropical island where a zombie outbreak suddenly occurs, infecting most and sending the few survivors running for their lives.

The game will supposedly be an open world adventure, as well as something of an action-RPG. This means you’ll start off as someone who’s clueless and sloppy when it comes to fighting off the walking dead, but as you progress and improve your skills, you’ll become much more effective at doing what you need to do.

Another intriguing element to the game is the lack of weapons. Instead of having this endless supply of guns and explosives randomly and readily available on this vacation island, you’ll have to find the best thing you can get your hands on — usually a bat or an axe and so on.

This could be the closest thing to the perfect zombie game we’ve seen yet. Many people love the Left 4 Dead and Dead Rising games, but they were never for me personally. I’ve always said that the perfect zombie game would be open world and along the lines of a Fallout 3, but instead of post-apocalypse you live in a world infested by zombies. But instead of just running around killing the undead they would be more of the backdrop as you follow a well-crafted storyline, trying to figure out what exactly happened and how to fix it. Progress this storyline with various safety zones to travel to and meet lots of unique characters who send you on many RPG-worthy quests, and I’ll be first in line to buy it.

While it doesn’t sound like Dead Island is quite my dream zombie game, it does sound like it’s the closest to it so far, an that makes me very, very excited to see some gameplay as soon as possible.

Check out the screenshots and this trailer everyone is talking about and share your thoughts below!
